Personally I'm against polygamy as a practice IRL. I think it's a system that just realistically doesn't work. We're competitive creatures by nature and that translates into our mating habits/love life/etc. A polygamous marriage in real life either devolves into a husband lording over all his wives. Or it turns into a lot of jealous backbiting between the wives. (For an example how that can have catastrophic results, read some of the stories about the Turkish Harems or the Imperial Concubines of China). But...this is a work of fiction and these are all characters who I really love. So I'll let it slide. There's a lot of stuff that got cut from the light novels. For example a big part of why Elinalise encouraged Rudeus to marry Roxy was that Roxy at least in the light novel was pregnant. As Roxy's friend she felt Rudy had to take responsibility. There was also the fact that Roxy is very much innocent when it comes to love. She's like a schoolgirl almost, she saved herself for a man she truly loved for the better part of 50 years. It was a pretty big sacrifice on her part. There was also a lot more explanation that went into how marriage works in this world. Polygamy is actually more or less the norm in Mushoku Tensei (though it ultimately comes down to how many wives a man actually wants or can afford), with the exception of the Milis faith that preaches Monogamy. I remember when this episode came out it felt like there should've been an extra episode or two, to get the ending right. Also love the Mushoku Tensei shirt. I've seen that one on TeePublic, I want a Mushoku Tensei shirt of my own. But I've been having difficulty finding one with an adult Rudy and Sylphie. Most of them are of them still as kids in Season 1.
