Being in a relationship with someone when you will outlive them by centuries. The one drawback to being that long lived, the losses. And that guy has exceeded the average life of a dwarf by 100 years already. I kinda hope that when Frieren makes it to her goal, Voll and his wife will be there together.

This series has some really good badass old men characters in it (there is another one coming up). I think Golden Kamuy might be the only other series off the top of my head to have a better episode dedicated to an old warrior having to deal with dementia.

This episode kinda gives you a peek at what it might be like if Frieren and Himmel did get together. She'd outlive him by hundreds of years and most likely be even more sad than she was at his funeral after knowing him for "only" 10 years. This show consistently pulls on my heartstrings more than any other I've seen recently.

I've seen some people come up with the idea/theory, that old man Voll was the reason why Himmel ended up never pursuing a romantic relationship with Frieren (not sure it would have gone anywhere with Frieren being Frieren). Not sure if that is the reason why. However it's what i've come to believe.
