Bane’s debut in the comics lead to him breaking Bruce’s back. This lead to Bruce to hang up the mantle and being replaced by a man named Jean-Paul Valley that never received Bruce’s blessing. Jean that Bruce’s tactics were obsolete and he decided to be more edgy and killed people. Jean avenged Bruce and defeated Bane. Jean almost killed the Robin at the time and banned him from the Batcave. Bruce ended up taking back the mantle after finding out.

you kind of have to respect Candice for being willing to literally leap into a fight and get her hands dirty, even if that fight's just against Robin, this is Candice's final appearance by the way, so... make of that what you will.
