Chapter 3

She pulled it out all the way and made sure she held it up in the light to make sure she

wasn’t seeing things. “What the fuck??” The same phrase slipped out of her lips again as she

stared at the thing, which crinkled in her fingers with every little movement. It was a pull-up! A

freaking pull-up! Not even any kind of product made for adults either! She’d seen this exact kind

advertised before at the store, with an owl and little colorful flowers and leaves all over it. These

were designed for little kids!

She scoffed a little as she dropped the thing on the table, grabbing a second one to make

sure that’s what they all were and put them both flat down on the table. She was disgusted at the

old woman for giving them to her, and disgusted at herself for even involuntarily now owning

such a thing. Curiosity got the better of her though as she reached down inside the bag, which

apparently was bigger than it looked as she kept pulling out item after item that did not seem like

it should fit inside. A full pack of pull-ups, a bottle of baby powder, baby wipes, two stuffed

animals, a colorful blankie, a big purple bow, and a pacifier of all things! She couldn’t believe

her eyes as it was all spread out on the table. Glancing one more time at the bag though, she

noticed she missed a small thing, a little piece of paper with handwritten words on it. She

reached inside and plucked it out, bringing the note up for her to read:

Jessica –

I know you might be a little bit shocked, but don’t forget about what I said. Have fun

little one.

- Madame R

Jessica scanned over the words of the note multiple times, trying to wrap her head around

all of this. Then she realized something... she’d never told the woman her name. How did she

know it?? She could feel her breath get faster and her palms get sweaty. How did... then she

paused and remembered something. She reached over and grabbed her backpack and found the

dangling little metal charm on it that read ‘JESSICA’ in sparkly letters. She was getting freaked

out over nothing, the woman must have just seen that. Of course she did.

The young woman slumped a little in her chair and crossed her arms as she looked over

at the items on the table. It wasn’t magic, it was just a trick. It had to be. A crazy coincidence

maybe? Right?

Regardless, she didn’t know why the woman would have any of this stuff, and why she’d

think Jessica would want it. It was ridiculous.

Before she could think about any of it for even a moment longer, Jessica gathered all the

stuff up and stuffed it back into the bag. Her hand paused for a split moment on the pull-ups.

They were... a lot softer than she remembered them being. Had she forgotten that? She shook her

head out again and stuffed them back in, tightening the bag and dumping it in the corner. Maybe

she could find a Goodwill to bring it all to.

After a lazy dinner of ramen noodles and a couple hours of Skyrim, Jessica got ready for

bed that night. As much as she’d tried to, her mind had at least partly been on her strange

encounter for the whole night.

She went to bed, after making sure to pee as much as she could. Her bed felt kinda dark...

and lonely. She decided that she needed to put up more decorations, make this room a little bit

more... her.

A thought came to her mind, a part of her trying to push it away. Before she could

though, the sleepy girl got up out of bed and went over to where she’d dropped the “magic” bag

in the kitchen. She fumbled around inside until she got what she was looking for: one of the

stuffed animals.

As she snuggled into bed, hugging the thing to her chest, she actually felt a lot better.

There was no reason to let everything in that wacko’s bag go to waste.

The next morning she felt a little better when her first sight was her new stuffed friend,

but she was quite unhappy when she discovered how soaked her undies and blanket were yet

again. As much as the 19 year old hated to admit it... perhaps she was foolish for not giving her

little gift a try the night before. She had a bad feeling in her gut that the next evening she wasn’t

going to have a choice.

The school day went by fairly normal for the most part. She only had one class that day

for contract law and civil procedures in the lecture hall. It was a bit tough, but she could handle

it. Except, for one little thing... she found her mind kept drifting back to the items she had at

home. Why was that? She thought. She had been planning on throwing them out anyways, what

did she care? But then again... maybe she shouldn’t be so hasty. After all, she did kinda need

some of them, didn’t she? As much as she didn’t want to admit it.

Even though the soft colorful pull-ups continued to swirl around the young woman’s

head, she tried hard to focus on her class so she could become the lawyer she wanted to be. As

she fiddled with her hair and gnawed on the end of her pencil though, she found herself

fantasizing about what outfit might work better with that pretty purple bow she’d found.
