A few days later, Chloe was having a slow work day, (Which was becoming annoyingly more and more frequent lately for her.) and after updating every single one of her social media’s with new images of herself for her fans, she was sitting on the couch bored and wishing she had something to do. Or maybe even someone to do.

She hadn’t ended up going home with that camera man, and right now she kinda really wished that she had. She guessed that she could always go out to the bar and go home with whoever she found handsome enough, but that took more effort to look nice than she thought she was willing to do right now. She looked good for a living; she didn’t really feel like doing it when she didn’t have to.

It was still fairly early in the morning and Chloe had already made herself bored as she could stand by scrolling on her phone for almost an hour and a half. She was still thinking about what she could do when she heard a sound come from the kitchen. It was her roommate and fellow model, Brook.

The girl’s pretty face hid what in Chloe’s opinion was an annoying personality. The brunette girl always seemed to act like she was all sweet and innocent around everyone, but Chloe had a feeling she had another side to herself. Nobody could act the way her roommate did all the time without some sort of secret they were hiding. Little did Chloe know... she was just about to find out what that secret was.

Brook was in the kitchen doing God knows what, the sound of pots and pans clattering about as she worked on whatever it was she was cooking. The more Chloe listened the more she realized she was hearing some other strange sound besides the constant clattering. It was almost like a muffled crinkling sound, like plastic bags, but it was only happening once in a while.

“Hey...” She called out to Brook. “Do you hear that weird sound?” She was genuinely curious about where it was coming from, having never heard anything like it in their home before.

Oddly enough, Brook froze for a moment when she asked it, and the sound suddenly stopped, along with every other sound Brook had been making. She glanced at Chloe for just a moment as she thought of how to respond, and it was pretty obvious that the girl appeared to be nervous for some reason. “S-sound?” The often soft-spoken and shy girl said, a small stutter in her voice. “N-no... I didn’t hear anything Chloe. Hehe, you’re probably just hearing things. Been working too hard?” She tried to play the occurrence off as a joke, but Chloe wasn’t the least bit convinced.

She tried to forget it, and went back to scrolling on her phone. Then she heard it again! Just for a moment! Chloe leaned up where she sat on the couch and listened even closer. At first she didn’t hear anything, other than the birds outside the window... but then there it was again! She had only been able to hear it for a moment, right when...

“Is there a thing in your pocket or something?” She asked Brook, still fiddling about in the kitchen, getting only a simple ‘Huh?’ in response. “I said... is there something in your pocket? I'm still hearing that noise, and it’s only happening every time you move.” At her words, Chloe noticed her roommate freeze again, making the accompanying sound stop once again.

Unable to stand it any longer, she got up from the couch and walked over to the kitchen to take a look for herself, trying to determine if Brook was messing with her or something. Brook backed up against the wall, her butt pressed against the cabinet as Chloe walked around the counter and tried to find the source of the noise.

She kept an ear out, but didn’t hear anything, before she turned towards Brook whose nervous look was even more apparent now that she was standing right in front of the pretty brunette.

“That was you, wasn’t it? What are you hiding Brook?”

“It’s nothing. Seriously, I swear. Just let it go.”

Despite not being the biggest ‘Brook’ fan in the world, Chloe could be civil with her roommate when the situation surely benefitted her. And finding out a possible secret about her seemingly perfect roommate was more than enough for her. Chloe giggled as she moved in closer, prodding at the girl and repeating her question until Brook finally spoke,

“Enough!” She said, stomping her foot just a little on the tile floor. “I’ll tell you alright. Just stop poking at me.” She crossed her arms in a huff, lightly slapping Chloe’s hands away. She led Chloe back to the couch (The sound following them the whole way.) and told her to sit down, which the other girl did, her excitement building. “You just have to promise you’ll never tell anybody. Got it?” Brook said as she took the seat next to her on the couch.
