Once in a while, living in her new situation, Bethany always thought that if she was able to go through the whole thing again, she definitely would have been more careful to make sure things didn’t end up the same way for her.

For years Bethany was a very proper and sophisticated ‘good girl’. She went to a private school and was raised to a good family who taught her all the values that she thought she would need to go out into the world and lead a fulfilling life as an independent grown woman. Who knew she’d end up getting it all so wrong?

She had been working at a little local coffee shop for a while at that point while she was working her way through the college she’d left her hometown to attend. Despite her being raised by them, she hadn’t felt very close with her family in a long time. She was happy they taught her their values, but there was always a part of her that felt like she was being held back from something.

Then one day... HE, walked into her coffee shop.

He was an older man, though she was 23 he was probably her senior by at least a decade, maybe more, but he was extremely handsome none the less. The private school that Bethany had gone to had also been an all-girls school, so besides her family and some friends from her tiny home town she didn’t really have much experience with men. Especially men like this guy. Guys that made her feel a little lightheaded, just by looking at their grizzled arms and almost visible pecs through his shirt.

“H-hi. Welcome! C-can I get something started for y-you?” She said, silently chastising herself for stuttering through her opening lines that she reiterates to every customer that walks in as she says them like a nervous third grader talking in front of the whole class.

“Hey darling. Sure, give me a second to look.” He spoke in a strong and slightly gravelly voice that bled testosterone in such a way that it made the poor and innocent sheltered schoolgirl practically swoon as the word darling passed over his lips, clearly directed right at her. The man’s strong chin and chiseled features were slightly obstructed by the sunglasses he was wearing, making him even more mysterious as they covered his eyes completely.

After taking a moment to decide what he wanted to order, he turned back to Bethany, flashing the girl a smile that made her immediately think of him as nothing short of a movie star. She took his order and quickly rang it up. When it was ready, she was quick to grab it to do the handoff herself.

“Order up!” She called out, having to willingly stop her voice from letting out another small stutter as she watched the man turn his head towards her and walk over to the counter. He reached out for his drink and she handed it to him. For the briefest moment though as she passed it, his fingers gently brushed over her own. His fingers were so warm and soft, yet somehow she could sense how strong they were.

He took the drink and took a quick sip from it, before smiling at her and heading for the door. “Thanks cutie. See you soon.”

He had called her cutie!

Naïve little Bethany could feel her heart fluttering in her chest at the man having called her that. No one in her life had ever called her cute besides members of her family. Hearing it come from a guy who she was undeniably attracted to made her feel warm in a way a good Christian girl like her usually did her best to ignore. That night though... she did anything but ignore those feelings.

Thoughts of that man stuck in her head for a couple days, until she had almost started to forget about it... until he came back. And then he came back again...

Every time he was there, he made Bethany breathless without seemingly any effort, but it wasn’t until his third visit that something new happened. The coffee place was mostly empty, so it gave her a chance to make a bit of small talk with him. Something she was thoroughly enjoying every second of. She had been talking about how the college town could sometimes feel like her old small town, and it didn’t really seem like there was all that much to do there. It was then that his hand gently ran over hers, resting on the counter, and he leaned in next to her to whisper in her ear,

“Well, if you’re looking for something to do, come to this address when your shift ends. I promise you won’t be bored any longer.” He slips a small piece of paper into her hand, then promptly leaves the confused girl alone with her thoughts...
