When it comes to bad luck, Christina hit the jackpot. It was supposed to just be a pretty normal night, nothing out of the ordinary. But unfortunately for her, that is not at all what the night ended up being for her.

She had needed a bit of extra cash and decided to try her hand at doing a bit of work at a daycare. She’d never done anything like it before, but as a 22 year old college student, she was sure she’d be able to handle it. Normally, she’d have been right. But the job she ended up picking up... didn’t end up being a normal job for her.

She was to show up at the daycare plucky, perky, and ready to work! For most employees that would be not only expected, but not a problem at all. For Christina, well, she had a different definition of work in mind. Meaning... she hated to work.

There were few places though that would have been worse than the daycare she showed up in, not realizing that certain daycare had a guardian angel of sorts. Something that she would come to learn all too well.

Dressed in her usual attire, long black hair down her back, a black and white shirt, dark skinny jeans, and black boots; Christina didn’t make a good impression with her coworkers right off the bat as she showed up almost fifteen minutes late on her very first day. She used the tired excuse that her “alarm clock hadn’t worked” despite the large cup of Starbucks coffee in her hand.

Already finding themselves annoyed at the new girl, Christina’s coworkers gave her a rushed version of the rundown of the duties they were expected to perform and introduced her to some of the kids. Despite Christina’s clear lack of interest in anything her coworker Rachel was saying, things seemed like they would go over okay.

They did not.

Christina truly did her best to try to focus and watch some of the kids, but her best effort equaled out to zero percent of people’s opinions of good work. She was sitting down in a chair whenever she got the chance, (Something Rachel told her that the workers should usually avoid, so they can be ready to help a child whenever possible.) she was constantly on her phone and drinking her coffee despite being given multiple warnings not to, and she was flat out just rude to some of her coworkers; including Rachel who was the current supervisor. It didn’t take long for Rachel to have had enough.

Rachel knew that Christina was just a bully, and probably not worth her time or her... powers; but she was right on the edge of using them on the girl. She could always just fire her, but where would the fun or the lesson in that be? She was going to give the girl one last chance, then she was going to do something about it.

“Hey Christina,” Rachel said in a mostly fake cheery voice at that point, bringing her hand up to the other girls’ phone and lowering it so she could look her in the eye.

“Yeah, what?” Christina mumbled out, lowering her eyes again down to her phone. Rachel was baffled at her pitiful response, wondering how anyone could be so stupid and incompetent when it came to having a job and doing the duties such a job required. Well, if she was going to act like a child, maybe she was going to have to treat her like one. Rachel reached out and snatched Christina’s phone from her. “Hey! What are you doing?” Christina cried out, making snatches for her phone, but not reaching it before Rachel could slip the device into her pocket.

Rachel smiled as she put on her best ‘daycare worker’ voice and talked down to her younger coworker, “Sweetie, you can have this back when you do as I ask. I have a task for you.” Christina was well aware of the way Rachel was talking to her, and as it brought a blush to her cheeks she knew she’d have to do at least a little work if she wanted her device back.

“What task?” Christina grumbled out, not liking being treated like a child by her boss.

“It’s snack time Christina. I would like you to hand out the snacks. They’re all already set up for you. All you have to do is call all the kids over and hand them out.” Rachel gestured behind Christina to a plate of animal crackers and juice boxes set up on two different platters. (Two platters that had totally not just completely magically appeared behind her...)

Looking very irritated, Christina worked herself up and out of the chair she was once again slouching in, and made her way towards the children. Rachel herself simply sat back a little and watched intently; quite intrigued to see what was about to go down.
