Chapter 4
Back Together
(PEYTON)
Peyton wasn’t sure how to react as he looked down at the gorgeous girl that he had met earlier. The girl was splayed on the park woodchips looking at him like a deer in headlights. He hadn’t meant to scare her. He hadn’t even tried to sneak up on her.
For some reason he hadn’t been able to get their previous interaction out of his mind. Something about it had just seemed so… perfect somehow. Her beauty had become rooted in his mind, but most of all that moment when he had helped her off the ground was picking at his brain. For that split second she had looked like… his sister. Peyton had never gotten that feeling before with anyone. Something about this girl was special. It had, even for a split moment, awakened another part of him. The part of him that didn’t just focus on numbers. The part of him that had been protective over his sister.
Peyton had done something that for him was a little crazy. He had diverted from his daily route to walk by the coffee shop he had seen the girl walk into earlier. He never did that. He had been walking the same route for as long as he had worked at his current job. When he reached the little coffee place he glanced inside and saw that the place was closing up. There appeared to only be one or two people left inside.
Peyton sighed softly, he had missed her. He didn’t know why he even really cared that much. Maybe he just thought that if he saw that girl one more time he could better understand the feeling he had gotten that reminded him of his sister.
“Oh well…” He said softly. He started to walk away when he out of the corner of his eye he noticed something across the street. There was a park. A little cute little park that was mostly hidden in darkness. In the center, on a swing, was a single figure. Peyton’s eyes widened as he looked closer. It was her! That girl… Liz…
With his eyes on her he crossed the street and approached cautiously. Her eyes were closed and she seemed… at peace. “Um excuse me? Liz?” He uttered, hoping that she would open her eyes.
She did open her eyes, but not in the way he expected.
The girl let out a gasp that was so sudden and so loud that Peyton felt his heartbeat quicken for a moment. She fell off the swing and crumpled for a moment into the dirt. She looked up at Peyton and met his eyes. Her eyes were filled with shock and terror. She hid her face into her hands.
Peyton was about to apologize for scaring the girl but then he saw something that was even more shocking. The girl’s pants were soaking wet. As she sat on the ground liquid was pouring out of her crotch and dripping through her pants. The poor thing was actually peeing herself. Her face still in her hands as the wetness spread all the way through the material and made a puddle around her bottom on the woodchips.
Peyton couldn’t believe it, how had he screwed up this bad? He had scared the girl so badly that she had peed herself. Peyton almost felt like running away; he always screwed up human interactions. Why did he have to find numbers so much simpler?
Liz had no liquid left in her system and was now sitting on the ground sobbing to herself. Peyton took a breath; he didn’t want to give up. He spoke.
“H-hey? Are you okay?” The girl stopped crying and looked up at him again. “Are you okay?” He softly repeated himself. Her glowing green eyes shimmered with tears. “Look, I’m… I’m really sorry that I scared you. This was my fault. I’m really really sorry.”
“N-noo…” The girl said. “It’s okay it wasn’t you.”
“What’d you mean?”
“Oh… um, well this happens sometimes. I… I do have a weak bladder.” She wouldn’t make eye contact with him again.
He swallowed nervously. “Well, my house isn’t that far from here. Only, if you want to, you could come back with me and get cleaned up.” He looked as friendly as possible and really hoped his offer wasn’t coming off as creepy. He was doing his very best to be helpful and make up for his scaring her and causing this.
He offered the girl his hand. Her huge green eyes stared at it; full of mistrust. At first he didn’t think she was going to accept it, but then, slowly she reached her hand out and took his. Her hand was so soft and so warm. Peyton gave the girl a little smile as he helped her to her feet.
Her cheeks were bright red as she looked down at herself. Her entire lower body was damp. Peyton quickly took off the leather jacket that he was wearing and wrapped it around the girl’s waist.
“B-but… your jacket.” The girl said, finally speaking. Peyton smiled again.
“It’s just a jacket Liz.” With Liz holding the coat around her waist and holding Peyton’s hand with the other. Through the darkened streets of the city the two strangers walked through the late night crowds until finally they reached their destination.
“You live here?” Liz gasped out loud as she looked up at the building. It was an apartment building but it was the most amazing apartment building she had ever seen. The attendant at the front door bowed to them both as they walked in.
“Good morning Sir.” The man said as he held the door open for them. The two of them took the elevator up the 16th floor and Peyton led the girl to his apartment. As he opened the door he cringed at the apartment being slightly out of place. He normally kept it 100% perfect looking but he had ended up being in a bit of a rush this morning. The girl stepped in, her mouth slightly agape as she looked around the beautiful large room.
“This place… this place is so beautiful.”
“Thanks. It’s nothing much really. My parents got it for me. I think it’s too quiet.” The girl smiled at him softly. It was the first time he’d seen her smile. It was dorky and adorable.
“Uhh…” He said suddenly after he realized he was staring at her. “Well, the bathroom is right here. I have some clothes that you could borrow. They might fit if…”
“I uh… I actually have some extra clothes in my bag.”
“Oh, well okay.”
Peyton showed his guest where the bathroom was and was about to leave when she called back out to him. “Hey Peyton?”
He turned back towards her. “Yeah?”
“T-thank you…” The girl was blushing. “You didn’t have to help me.” Peyton smiled back at the shorter girl.
“I know I didn’t have to, I wanted to Liz.” The girl suddenly looked really shy. Like she wanted to say one more thing.
“Hey… uh Peyton… I have one more favor to ask.”
“Yes Liz?”
“Can you um… can you get me some… uh, well…”
“Protection?” Peyton said, unsure exactly where within him the word had suddenly sprung from; but a part of him told him it was right. He wanted to be helpful to her.
“W-what?” Liz responded with surprise on her face.
“Did you want me to go buy you some protection? Protection for uh, bladder problems?”
