Because I added a new Chapter 1 in December, this is the next chapter after what was Chapter 3!

A little shorter this week, but with at least one really important moment that I think is going to be key to people's perceptions of certain characters.

Haven't reread the second half of this chapter yet, btw! So my apologize for the extra rough nature of it.

A few rules & reminders:

  • Chapters will be dropping as Bryce completes them. That means anywhere from every 1 to 2 weeks on average, though sometimes waits may be longer.
  • Recall that these are rough chapters, with no editing other than a single pass-through as Bryce writes.
  • On a similar note, we are not asking for advice or corrections at this time. If Bryce wants feedback, we will certainly reach out, thank you! If you want to voice concerns or complaints about the chapter, you may now do so over on the Reddit discussion thread below! Notifications are turned off on those conversations, so they're a free-for-all now (within the rules of the subreddit, obviously)!

Aside from the soap opera-fication of the story in book 2 getting to most of us I think another big problem most people are seeing is that chapters revolve around dragged out conversations with 5-6 people just doing reaction shots to the same piece of information 😂 like come on I don’t think career military officers who’ve all seen combat to the death would be at the verge of a nervous breakdown because 1 cadet, however special, injured themselves in training. Dial it down a bit 😂 get back to the progression lol

Also does anyone else think ‘Ruinous’ is a bad name to replace Catcher’s original move name of ‘Blade Break’? The reason it sounds so weird is that all other move names are nouns and ‘Ruinous’, while edgy and cool and whatnot, is clearly an adjective. “Catcher used ruinous” is inherently clunky due to that
