Going to be doing these occasional  "Let's Chat About" sections where I'm going to be looking for feedback (see?? I said I ask for some!! lol) on specific topics.

Today, I want to talk about Logan Grant, and his relationship with Viv.

As many of you can tell, I have set myself to try and turn Grant from someone everyone hated to someone everyone comes to understand and (hopefully) slowly grows to like. He's never going to be a perfect character or person, but his flaws will be tempered by the people he surrounds himself by, and reasonings for his actions and personality provided eventually.

I don't want to do this all at once, of course. It's supposed to be a steady, climbing change with the promise of redemption. My goal is to use his defeat by Rei, his past, and (especially) his relationship with Viv, to peel away at people's opinion of Grant.

So my question is:

On a scale of 1 to 10, how do you feel Logan Grant's growth is being handled so far, especially with respect to his relationship with Viv?

Clarifying comments are obviously appreciated!

As a character, he is growing and gaining more depth and relatability. But there has been no more progress or added depth into his relationship with Viv.

I think Logan's progression and internal monologue has been very good and have been hoping to see more things from his perspective since the short convo with Rei after their fight. There has been very little light shone on his and Viv's relationship so not to sure on what to comment on it. Obviously being the private people they are to such things, we'll never see much externally over time. But, even from Logan's monologue, or even potentially Viv's, it would be good to see more rationale. Regardless of whatever of us thinks, his and their story has been enjoyable to do date, keep it up!

Agree with those who’ve said there’s not been enough experience of Viv and Logan together. It would help to see more of maturing/trying Logan also.

Not giving criticism at all, but the fact that Viv was almost hiding it at first, and that Reidon (using his first name because it’s the best MC name I’ve ever ran into) had no objections to it is interesting in terms of character growth. People don’t hide things they think is right. And usually people get mad at their best friend for cozying up with their bully. Could be a growing point for both of them :)

After chapter 22 it’s perfect!

Yall need to get in more fist fights not screaming matches... I don't know there's something primal about beating the hell out of somebody that did you dirty. A finality to it. Like, "Okay, this is my point. I am right. And you need to accept it. Or imma beat the crap outta you." And as a man, you just gotta accept it. And there's a primal part of your brain that has to respect it, if you have any kind of honor. That's what happened between Logan and Rei. Y'all are too used to "talking out your feelings." Sometimes, you just gotta fight. Tell me, when's the last time you ever turned a bully, or an enemy into someone that respects you by "Talking to them." It never happens. You know what does make them respect you? A black eye, and busted lip. It's not really something everyone is comfortable with these days. But litterally for thousands of years of human history accross hundreds of cultures, this is a big part of how boys solved their problems with each other.

I'm a little late here, but some of my favorite chapters are the ones told from Logan's perspective. I would love to have more of those.

A bully is a bully no matter the reason. Viv deserves backlash along with Logan. If your ”best friend” starts dating your bully can that person truly be trusted. You don’t act shitty and then have everyone around you just shrug it off, it is completely unrealistic. Viv is an awful friend and Logan is still simply an a-hole. I voted 2 because the way this played out is completely off putting and unrealistic. Also why does Viv hide so much when she excepts everyone else to tell her everything? Her relationship with Rei is completely one sided. I know it’s unchangeable at this point but wow good job on ruining Viv along with Grant who was already a POS.

I’d still prefer to see him dead honestly. Viv deserves better.

It would be great to have a chapter just on Grant to get to know him better, and maybe have a bit more visibility on private time between him and Viv. Grant’s past as a driving factor for his anger issues is a great opportunity to let readers dive into who Grant is. Right now his behavior change seems a bit shallow because it feels like Viv is forcing it. Realistically behavior change comes from someone wanting to change. Beyond Viv, why does Grant want to change?
