So it’s written and edited for a while now, probably the audiobook is pretty close to done too... why not release the ebook first instead of waiting for audio to release them together? This whole simulpublishing thing makes no sense to me. From a sales perspective, instead of buying the ebook and then eventually the audiobook, I just buy the audiobook. It’s weird that some authors delay the release of titles by months for...I don’t know, neatness?

Actually we just made the switch to sim pub. STORMWEAVER launched 5.months after in audio, if you'll recall. The answer unfortunately is a complex combination, but it revolves heavily around the Amazon algorithm. When the algorithm knows that it can push a book and sell to both ebook readers and audio at the same time, it's much more likely to do so, making the book much more likely to be a success. So trust us, we are equally frustrated with the concept, but we have to play the game sadly.
