Odd, but not for Mike. People always called him flakey. Offbeat. Weird. I preferred to think of him as eccentric. He was also into stuff most cops would never admit to-- poetry, paintings, all that artsy stuff. I read the poem again. What did it mean? As I looked it over, I noticed a symbol at the bottom of the page. It looked almost like a doodle, or just the letter "O." Did it means something?  

I turned the page. Another poem. The handwriting looks different. I wasn't sure exactly how. Looking back at the first page, I saw some of the childlike blockiness had been sanded off, the letter taking a more rounded shape.  I read the poem:

Lovers moan next door

Her cries awake my new flesh

I need what she takes

New flesh? Puzzling. And what did the last line mean? I need what she takes? I'll need to continue to investigate. To read the next poem.
