Alright!! This is my first time making a tutorial like this so I apologize greatly if it is hard to understand but I will try my best to explain!

THINGS YOU WILL NEED

  • Fabric, in Black, Grey, Dark Grey, plaid and white! I used a sports wear fabric from Jo Annes for my cosplay but feel free to use whatever kind of fabric you'd like! The plaid was a regular plaid knit fabric from Jo annes as well!
  • Buttons, I used these gold ones for my cosplay! Though they're also availble at Jo Annes too!
  • Zipper, open one preferred of course! The store I got my zipper from is closed but you can use any zipper you'd like.
  • Sewing machine of course
  • Hand sewing needle and LOTS of thread in matching colors to your fabric
  • sewing pin needles
  • Base hoodie to cut up in your size! Not mandatory but HIGHLY recommended
  • Bias tape in white (medium size) and grey (smallest width size!)
  • Scissors! SNIP SNIP!

ALL MY FABRIC AND MATERIALS (Asides the Zipper) I GOT FROM JO ANNES FABRICS!

So, to start off I first bought a normal hoodie from goodwill, I cut it up along all its seam lines, this was going to be the base for how I came up with the patterns for KH3 Sora!

In the end my patterns looked a bit like this! Remember to add a seam allowance to EACH part, or else it will end up to small on you. An inch of seam allowance should be just fine.

Here is the basic shapes I had for my hoodie!

Once you have your shapes cut out, go ahead and pin them down to the fabric and get to cutting!

Now, this is going to look like a mess but if you take it one color border at a time you will sorta see what I was trying to explain lol, sew each color border together as shown on this picture!

I first started off by sewing the front black and grey flaps together!

Once you have the black and grey parts sewn together you're going to want to sew down a strip of white bias tape on top of the line where the two black and grey fabrics meet!

Sew across the top and bottom borders of the white bias tape

And ta dah! You have the first part of the front flaps done!

Next you're going to want to cut out a VERY long strip of white fabirc, fold it over on its ends and sew that down to the bottom of your grey fabric, as shown in this photo! Do this for both sides!

Now once you have the white fabric across the bottoms of both of your grey sections, you can go ahead and add your red bias!! It is the same process as attaching the white bias from before, except you're doing it along the bottom and side edges!

It should be looking sorta like this at this moment!

And here you go! You have the base fabrics all complete!! For the zipper I bought mine from orgxiii zipper store but it seems they have closed their shop, here is their etsy though! You can use a normal zipper though if you'd like since Soras zipper isnt insanely big in KH3! Go ahead and top stitch it down the side of the red bias!

And there you go! the front is basically done!

Here is how my underside looked at this point, not so pretty lol but its all okay!

Sora also has this tiny raised black bias detail along his jacket, you don't need to do it if you wish but I just felt like adding it in! All I did was take some black bias tape and sew it down atop the fabric, just like how we did with the white bias earlier!

I forgot to take photos of the FULL lining section but basically what you will be doing is cutting out your patterns again! But this time you will only have three patterns, one for the back and one for each of the sides.

Here is how the lining fabric for the front two sides looked!

(I ran out of black fabric so I used a dark blue for my back lining fabric! For this part all you're doing is sewing the lining fabric to the ugly side of your finished top flaps/black piece! Tuck in the corners to all the edges and sew along them till it looks like this!

Refer to my color border sewing guide if you get confused on which sides to sew together and which ones not to!

Now with the sleeves, sew together the grey fabric and the black fabric pieces!

Top stitch the grey bias along the edges of the darker grey fabric and do the same for the lining as you did the jacket!

Again, here is how your lining for the sleeves should sorta look like, its okay if you have too much fabric cause once you sew the lining down to the ugly side of your sleeve fabric you can just trim it off.

Cut out a long strip of red bias and sew it across the open sleeve part of your sleeve pattern, same as you did for the sides of the jacket earlier! A lot of this cosplay is attaching bias lol.

Now once you have the red bias attached ( I didnt have it attached here yet but this gives you a good idea on how to sew the sleeve to the base jacket ) go ahead and sew your sleeve up! Sew along the lines in the photo that have the pins in them, flip it inside out and sew the sleeve to the base hoodie!

It should look something like this at this point! Onto the hoodie!

Go ahead and sew together your TWO pieces of each fabric along the color border lines from the pattern picture earlier! Then once you have done that sew the red piece of fabric to the black piece fabric! DO NOT sew down the bottom hem line though!

Here is how the hoodie should look at this point! So this part is a little tricky! When attaching the hoodie to the collar of your jacket, SEW DOWN ONLY THE RED PIECE WITH YOUR MACHINE!! You will be hand sewing the black lining to your hoodie later. You're doing this so that the hem line of the hoodie doesnt show when you're wearing it!

Once you have the RED part of your hoodie sewn to the jacket, get to pinning and hand sewing!

You wanna hand sew through the top fabric, grabbing the base jacket fabric with your needle and coming out from it and doing that all along the hood till it is all stitched up!

And there you go! Your hoodie should now be fully wearable lol, just need to attach the lapels!

The lapels are basic right triangle shapes that you then sew the hem down and attached the same grey bias you had on the sleeves to the border of the lapel!

Sew the lapel down to the collar of your hoodie, once it is in place you can begin hand sewing the buttons into place, have the needle pierce the lapel fabric and the TOP lining of your hoodie, repeat this over and over till the button feels tight in its place.

And ta dahhhhhhH!!! After all that labor you should be finished with your hoodie! You just need to sew down the buttons to the spots shown on Soras hoodie the same way you did the lapel button!

I am sorry if this was hard to understand, its my first time writing a sewing tutorial but I hope it has helped you even the slightest and give you some ideas on how to make this!
