they're brothers (born from the same egg) and Flash has "frost scales" - he absorbed all of the ice out of Esker in the egg, so he has too much and it consumes his entire body, freezing everything he touches. Meanwhile Esker is left with no frost breath at all, as well as being unusually warm, smooth and weak for an IceWing.
