Hi! Loving your reactions to the show! About the whole Donna Reed thing, I’m on Rory’s side. It’s great that your wife stays at home and likes to cook for your family. I think what Rory was trying to say is that your wife and any woman who is a stay at home wife/mom has a choice to do that. There was a time when women did not have that choice. They were expected to do all the housework, all the cooking, and all the child raising on top of looking “perfect” all the time. It was so sexist. Now, we have come a long way in terms of women’s rights but sexism and gender inequality is still very much a problem in most places in the world. I just think that it’s not fair for anyone to expect/want their partner to take care of everything at home whether they work or not. If a person wants to be a stay at home parent/spouse, then that’s great but the working partner should still help out when they can at home. My point is it should be their choice and the women Donna Reed represented did not always have that choice.
