Louis admitted in several interviews that before he found his sound with Walls and later FITF, at the beginning of his solo career, he felt the pressure to make songs that would be commercially successful and would be played on the radio even tho it wasn’t necessarily the type of music he personally wanted to create. So he went with pop sounding songs and collabs to achieve that. And even tho he later redefined his definition of success and went for a genre of music that is more indie, I have to say that I still love his early stuff too, like Miss you, Back to you or Just hold on. They are all great BOPs. So maybe he will one day rearrange Miss you and make it rockier and we will hear it on tour. Like he just did with Back to you.
