Got a story idea to pitch by everyone.  Would love to get some feedback.  This is something that popped into my head about an hour ago and is still taking shape.  It's a possible contender for what gets written after Last Stand is done.

The near future.  Mankind has discovered the sunken city of Rey'leh, the watery resting place of Cthulhu.

After one failed nautical expedition, a new expedition is sent to explore.  The player is one of the people sent with the expedition.  The player gets to choose if they want to play the part of a scientist, archeologist's, or security.

Game starts with exploration.   Searching the ruins, discovering what you can.

There would be several paths through the game, depending on what "Mistake" you make in the game.  There would be perhaps half a dozen triggers, each leading to a different story, though if you flip more than one trigger those stories would be able to play out at the same time, or even interact with one another.  Once one of the stories began, you would only have a certain amount of time to complete the game

Stories:
* Releasing some undersea monster.  The story would turn into your typical undersea monster tale with a lovecraftian backdrop.
* Discovering the restless souls of the previous expedition.  The story would turn into something of a ghost story.
* Infection.  Someone on the crew is somehow infected and begins to transform into a sort of genetic monster that hunts the crew.
* Possession.  Someone encounters the consciousness of SOMETHING, possibly Cthulhu.  This entity takes over the body of this person and begins to wreck havoc.  This entity can move from host to host with nothing more than touch.
* Awakening Cthulhu.  The crew actually finds Cthulhu, and somehow triggers his awakening.  Their goal is to somehow find a way to put him back to rest before he fully wakens.
* Competition.  Some other group (Pirates?  Foreign government?  Cultists?) try to disrupt the plans of the expedition, intent on killing and/or kidnapping the crew.

The  goal in all cases would be to survive long enough to be extracted from  the site.  And in some cases eliminate the threat you are confronting.   While the first item you set in motion would set the clock in motion for  the game, it would be entirely possible to start additional stories  that could play out at the same time.  Some stories would play out  completely independent from one another, while others would have the  potential to interact with one another (Like Possession and Infection,  the entity could potentially take over the monster and add sentience to  it beyond it's original threat.)

looks interesting. I would play.

Archeologist needs to be a woman.

Masterdruid

can we play as Cthulhu

I figure there would be a couple of options for characters to play, probably an even spread of male and female.

Good to know. The more I roll the idea around in my head, the more I like it. I'll put it to a vote closer to time, but I figure there's a good chance it will be the next game we make.

Sounds like it would be a great game, love the concept.
