Time for another art breakdown!  Been getting quite a bit of WIP art, but this is the first complete one I've got in a while.

Today we will be breaking down the image for the first dream image.

When I pitched the idea past the artist, I mentioned that it should be from ground level, looking up towards the second story window with Zal'chaas standing over your sleeping form.

This is what I received:

I mentioned to the artist that we need to pull the image back, put some distance between the player and the tavern at the end of the street.  I then received this second version of the sketch.  I was much happier with this one.  I emphasized that the image will take place in a dream like state, it will be dark with the only real focus being on the figure in the window.

\

The first inking.  I thought that the overall feel was good.  The artist expressed some concerns over their ability to effectively do the puddles, we ended up discussing it briefly, then he went to work adding it.

\

I thought that the puddles looked good overall.  The artist expressed that they intended to include additional fog effects, and I gave them the go ahead to complete the image.

\

The increased fog effect brought the image together nicely.  Was very happy with how the final version came together.  I thought it was a great balance between shadowy detail on most of the picture and focus on the room itself.  I think its going to look great in the game!

With this piece complete, I'm in talks with the artist about the next set of images we'll be commissioning for the game.  On the grounds that it took them longer than expected to finish up last month's art, I'll be using the poll from the start of this month when prioritizing what art to commission.

Hope you guys enjoyed the art breakdown.  Considering the piece was pretty simple compared to many that we have had done in the past, a surprising amount of work ended up going into it.  That said, I think the final version is going to make a really great addition to the game.
