Remember Robot from Invincible? Mechamaru's scene remind you of anything? :D

chonkey donkey

it's crazy how similar mechamaru is to robot from invincible. disfigured at birth, hides behind a metal body, lives in some moist container, makes a deal with bad guys to get a healthy body, betrays the bad guys.

Whoever is making the ED's this season at MAPPA for JJK needs to be given a knighthood. An introduction shot of Megumin using his disposable camera, with Nobara (presumably very drunk) stumbling into the frame, and than Yuji running up the stairs... switching that with the music picking up to a fast paced collage of photos and short videos from Megumin's camera and maybe Yuji/Nobara's phones as well for the short vids. I have never seen animation pull off the effect of taking real live action photography inside an anime setting like that so spectacuarly well. I fell in love with this ending both musically and visually instantly, it fills me with nostalgia as the collage of photos and vids remind me of images I have seen or recorded before in my life. Megumin also seemed to be taking A LOT of photos of Nobara during there little Tokyo visit... including a couple pics without her even knowing where she looks cute. Could it be subtle hinting at a Megumin x Nobara ship? Probably not. Anyways, this ED evokes so much emotion out of me for such a short and simple compilation. Speaking purely in terms of art style and the animation itself, MAPPA this season has been doing some of my personal favorite work I have ever seen in all of animation. Basically just Kyoto Animation and a handful of other shows like Cowboy Bepop and Evangelion could rival with the level of production they are dedicating to this series. This is clearly an inspired piece of art.

My personal read on Fushiguro taking a bunch of pictures, even when Nobara isn’t knowing, is that it’s meant to showcase how truly dear his friends are too him and how much he really treasures them, despite his usual grumpy sadboi exterior lol

@Jake White That makes a lot more sense... I just want to believe that Megumin is falling for Nobara. She's great. I gotta rewatch the ED a couple more times to analyze it more but on first and second viewing the shipping thing is what came into my head, probably more of a self-projection than anything lmao. Still, I love those photos Megumin is taking along with the short videos, the lighting especially makes it all look like real photos taken in anime world. Its like we as the audience were given a glimpse into what our main trio (as if they were real) see whenever the "camera" is not rolling for there scenes in the anime. Its genius imo.

I’ve seen over half a dozen reactions to this episode so far and you’re literally the only person I’ve seen actually remember that the Human Earthworm movies were a recurring joke from back during Junpei’s mini arc lol

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

I totally forgot about it as well. I really gotta rewatch Season 1 before this arc starts kicking off. I've only rewatched the School Battle arc and the movie a couple times.

This will be the best new gen anime arc besides the Rumbling (and maybe RTS in AOT). The only other thing that could match it in the near future is some of the next Haikyuu content.

Also, I fuckin love how damn silly the character drawings got around @7:54 ish lol. It reminded me of that old ass Adult Swim show called ‘Home Movies’, especially the way they drew Yuko lol

Rice

This arc is so god damn good dude. Like it’s pretty hard to overhype, this is the kind of arc that comes at the end of the series and it’s season 2 of JJK lmao

Rice

“Things have a way of falling apart and forcing all hands on deck”- this should be the summary on crunchyroll for the shibuya incident lol

jin&juice

Ohh that’s why it looked so familiar. I was wondering if it was from s1 or one of my rabbit holes. The trailer was hilarious those worm babiessss ahhh

jin&juice

Ooo love your analysis. It reminded me of the second ED where Yuji is taking videos on his phone. It’s like we are being taken through their memories and friendship journey awwww. These snippets are reminding us they are also just high school kids having fun, along with being bomb ass sorcerers. Also so cute that they are using disposal cameras

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

@jin&juice Totally agree, the second ED from last season is also one of my all time fav endings. I suspect its the same person making the ED's for this season but maybe not. Regardless, the ability to create the live action photography effect in animated format is unrivaled... except for maybe some Kyoto Animation works like Hibike! Euphonium and Tamako Market... but that's it. MAPPA are straight cooking.

This show has a way of making me always feel like the stakes are rising with every passing arc. I love the way that the prequel arc makes the emotional stakes so much higher for this next arc. Not to mention we also have “the other main character” Yuta from JJK 0 who must also intersect with our present day cast at some point and the prospect of how that can come to fruition has me so unbelievably excited.

RoZiiii

I love how this ep just turned into evangelion halfway thru

Emman Reed

Awesome reaction, really really great. Excited for next week :))

Man, watching through this arc and coming back to this episode, it is so frustrating that Jujutsu societies rules kept Yuji and Todo apart. Shibuya woulda went a LOT differently if they'd dropped them in together. Gojo is right, a lot of the traditions and systems in place seem kind of arbitrary and awful.
