And now my lip sweat is immortalized forever, joining the mosquito biting my neck and the spider landing on my shoulder

It's interesting to note that Gojo inherited Toji's blessing (Megumi) and Geto inherited Toji's curse (that little worm dude). Also shoutout to that water stache!

Fair enough. I'm actually going to be visiting my sister in Tampa in November but will probably be a lot better then

“Throughout the Heavens and the Earth, I alone am The Honored One” is my favorite line in the series. Also I think it’s a pivotal moment not only in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen but also thematically. Until this point Gojo had been referring to him and Geto *both* as “the strongest”. In this moment Gojo basically ascends everyone else. He exerts himself over his peers and becomes the monolith of power we see him as in season 1. It’s beautiful in terms of him coming into his own potential and ability but it’s also genuinely sad because it seems like from this moment on he puts the entire weight of the Jujutsu world on his shoulders. In his eyes he HAS to be the deterrent for all threats, he HAS to be strong enough to beat whoever goes against him, this is the moment that Gojo Satorou stops being a high-school student born with the Six Eyes and limitless, and becomes Gojo Satorou- the most powerful sorcerer of the modern Era.

Toji honestly is a great villain, only showed up for a brief time but had a great impact The last scene is soo interesting and brilliant. Also, I saw a tweet I liked that says “Toji gave Gojo a blessing while Geto got his curse”.

Awesome and lonely and terrifying, especially in light of the comments he makes at the end about just wiping them all out

Big Fuze

I kinda think we have seen 3 Gojos now 1. Pre press of death: extremely powerful with a carefree front to hide a cautious person but still green on many fronts 2. Cursed energy enlightenment ? : he has tapped into a primary force in this universe understandably having a massive perspective change . Seemingly inhuman 3. Current (jjk zero and season 1) : still has this massive perspective but sometime after this realizes this is not the end all . Learning to care about people on the small scale while still relishing in the fight because it allows him to interact with a primary component of the universe . Personally I’ve had trouble getting into this series mainly because of the MC but I’ve loved the movie with Yuta and season 2 with Gojo/Geto

how long do you have to sit and think about each analysis before you're able to put them into words? or are they just at the top of your head? Cuz to make all of these complex themes and ideas so easy to understand astounds me every time

Jasmine Tea Enjoyer

This is just my interpretation, but I think Gojo is literally God

agoodwintv

Usually it's off the top of my head. Sometimes I'll take a 10-20 minute break but not sure how helpful it is really. And then inevitably I think of much better ways to say it after the video is already done ..

but i'm sure thats probably what helps you understand it better. more ingrained i guess

@6:50ish it’s cool to see Geto still figuring out the finer details about his powers through trial and error like this. He grew up being able to absorb and manipulate practically every curse he came into contact with, so he just assumed that he could easily steal Toji’s cursed spirit away without much trouble. Only after failing did he finally figure out that his true power will only allow him to steal someone else’s cursed spirit if the owner of it dies first, like he explained later on in the movie as an adult.

Jake White

Also we gotta acknowledge my man Toji joined Thors in the gigalegend hall of fame by dying stood on his feet lol

And that analysis of Gojo’s development from pre to post ‘enlightenment’ matches up perfectly with the true meaning of that Buddha quote. Grounding and reminding himself that he alone has the power and ability to change what he doesn’t like about the world around him.

So something interesting to think about is the possible parallels between gojo and sukuna here. It wasn’t translated the same in the first season of the anime but at one point in the manga sukuna was described by narration with basically the same line gojo just said. “Throughout heaven and earth he alone is the honored one”.

Chris Sharpe

The fight between Gojo and Toji is meant to represent the Monkey King and the Buddha. The Monkey King relates to Toji because the Monkey King was a divine demon banished from heaven (representing Jujutsu society and the Zenin clan). The gods of heaven feared the monkey king because he could kill all of them he he wanted, much like Toji can. Toji even jokingly referred to himself as a monkey. Gojo relates to the Buddha because of his god-like powers, many of which have Buddhist influence. When he discovers Reverse Curse Technique, it almost seems like he achieves a sort of Nirvana, or at least something made to seem like it. Finally, he actually says a quote from the Buddha, with the “Heaven and Earth” quote being what the Buddha says when he was born, representing Gojo’s rebirth.

RoZiiii

Man its really apparent now that Geto is Gojo's emotional rock and its sad that Geto doesnt feel like he has anyone to lean on anymore.

Chris Sharpe

That last scene was probably my favorite in the episode. I think the reason Gojo is so wild and somewhat immoral as a teen is because he leans on Geto as a moral compass and trusts that he would stop Gojo from doing anything bad. The mangaka, Gege Akutami, said that if Geto allowed Gojo to kill those people, Gojo would be a very different person in the present.

Chris Sharpe

If you have some problems with the MC and/or think he’s basic or boring the rest of season 2 will be a nice surprise.

Bighead

The unhinged feral Gojo scene was epic!! And while it was cool seeing that, I think it's also chilling like you said, to think of who Gojo would have been after this incident were it not for Geto. I can't really confirm if this was really something Akutami said, so do take it with a massive grain of salt, but apparently they've mentioned in an interview that Gojo was indeed using Geto as his moral compass especially during the end there, where he asked him if they should kill the cult members(seeing them clapping was such an eerie, disturbing scene). Gege said that if Geto had agreed to it, the current day Gojo would have been an entirely different person. While even if Gege's never really said this, I do personally think it's very plausible for Gojo having spiraled into darkness and not really caring about anything. I don't think he would have necessarily become an antagonistic force wrecking havoc, but rather just living life without a care in the world and killing people who displease him without a second thought or real goal in mind. This experience with Riko and Toji coupled with Geto's former ideologies and morals that Gojo clung onto as a memory/piece of his broken friendship after Geto's decent into darkness are probably reasons to why he became a teacher in the first place and cares about Yuji and Yuta(who were destined to die according to Jujutsu society)to really protect and nurture them and all the students under his care. Also maybe a reason why he took Maki under his wing, to prevent something similar to Toji happening to her. And that makes Gojo and Geto's friendship even more bittersweet and tragic. Not to forget, what this sort of experience would feel like for mere 16 year olds to go through- witnessing the deaths of loved ones and losing friendships all the while having to deal with the cruel world of Jujutsu and it's politics. And it was interesting how at the end there, Geto was standing in the blue while Gojo in the red. Also RIP Toji. He was a fascinating character and a great parallel to Maki. Both disparaged by the Zenin clan and both with the goal to reject the clan and the makings of the Jujutsu society in their own ways by becoming strong despite their lack of cursed energy. It's even more exciting now to see Maki's journey ahead. And if I'm not wrong, I read somewhere that Maki and Toji are cousins, so technically Maki is like an aunt to Megumi, lol. Extra notes Gege added about Toji in the manga- "He doesn't have much money so he wanders from woman to woman. But he'll earn a ton of money from one job then spend it until it's gone. He became unstable while in the Zenin household, but calmed down thanks to Megumi-mama. However she died soon after Megumi was born, so he again ended up like this. He can fight effectively against Jujutsu sorcerers even without cursed tools. However he cannot exorcise cursed spirits. Because of this he was ostracized by the Zenin family. " Side note- Jujutsu sorcerers and even curses seem to "awaken" their true potential/powers when pushed to the limit or when faced with near death. We see Mahito unlock his domain expansion when he was being beat up to a pulp by Yuji and Nanami, and Megumi also unlocked his incomplete domain when facing that "special grade" curse in the previous arc. Gege's scribble- https://www.reddit.com/r/JuJutsuKaisen/comments/15bst56/akutami_geges_comment_on_episode_4/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1 Also thought I'd add this post manga chapter scribble by Gege that clarifies why the Toji worm curse was not able to be absorbed by Geto. But mostly adding it for the dig he takes at Toji!! https://www.reddit.com/r/JuJutsuKaisen/comments/15brs0n/for_those_wondering_why_geto_couldnt_absorb_a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1 I hope the reddit links aren't a bother!!

Seth

Gojo had to dodge the blade because that specific weapon nullifies his powers. I’m wondering if we’ll finally see how Geto turns evil next episode cause he seems like the most normal one so far

chonkey donkey

the worm curse is with geto in jjk0. also after next ep i would recommend watching jjk0 again for personal enjoyment

Emman Reed

just such a great episode and I'm so glad that your reaction had such a great insight into the themes beneath the crazy cool action. I've got lots to think about and thanks for making my Saturday a great day :))

@Jabez True but maybe you schould censor this comment, in case he plans on ever watching that show
