This arc only feels lighthearted right now… that won’t last long…

Seems like we're getting little fun scribbles from Gege after each episode similar to Yukimura sensei's thoughts and notes- https://www.reddit.com/r/JuJutsuKaisen/comments/14yrdau/geges_comment_scribble_for_episode2_jujutsu/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1 The Navy colonel joke is apparently a panel referencing a one piece joke. Love to see all the anime references and inspirations they're constantly sprinkling into their work.

i like how despite Gojo being so strong we see glimpses of him still not being near his peak, he can't do reverse technique red yet which isn't even his most powerful in current time

The Life flashing before his eyes scene with Geto kicking that old dudes ass was executed perfectly. The student choir music outro transitioning into the scene at the school was both hilarious and moving at the same time, even the backstory with the old dudes dog was super sweet and sad. Also the super quick sakuga fight animation from Geto was superb. If we get any fights in the show that look like those skyscraper action clips in the OP this season is easily going to surpass season 1. This may be MAPPA’s best work so far.

Something I find so interesting about Gojo is that he isn't necessarily the pure, idealistic and humble all powerful being that a lot of anime usually explore. It's really easy to love figureheads like All Might in his prime and also Thors, but as much as I also adore Gojo, you can see he has a violent side to him, enjoys his power and isn't really averse to violence and destruction even in present day, granted he's mostly killing curses for the most part. But times like when he knowingly sent Panda and Inumaki in the movie to fight and lose to Geto so Yuta would rage, and also brutally crushing the arms and legs of the coat rack guy during the tournament invasion arc show his more violent/selfish side. And I kinda like that about his character, reminds me of Erwin in a certain sense, they're both such powerful and respected figures with a hunger to achieve their (mostly self interested) goals by not so idealistic means if necessary. There's just something about their presence that for a lack of a better term is so cool and commands respect.

There was also with Jogo, where he seemed to have a sadistic look in his eyes as he tore off his head. I feel people can miss a lot when people just look at Gojo from how he outwardly is portrayed at the beginning compared how he actually is. With Erwin Smith, he is portrayed as this perfect individual, whose flaws are revealed later. Gojo gets referred to as “mentor character with a dark side” often, but it was clear he was far worse as a kid. So I find it more interesting to look at him as “man with the ego and powers of a god who decided to try to do better and become a mentor” because rather than having the starting point of being good, with some bad, it has the starting point of bad, with good qualities. This is just how I personally like to look at Gojo.

Hope you like this episode, because it is the LAST wholesome episode in the season. Also, if the next 3 episodes are adapted like I expect, all 3 will be in my top 5 JJK episodes.

Damn that makes me sad tbh. Jujutsu Kaisen does comedy and slice of life so incredibly well I was hoping we would get more of it both in this arc and the next arc but it sounds like we getting nothing but real shit this season

oh man I can't wait for this season man, this art style is really cool and the reactions have been great. This is one that I am genuinely excited to see more from.

Whew you seriously hit the nail on the head with that post discussion lol. Not spoiling anything but just sayin, all those concepts and themes you brought up at the end, keep them present in your mind cause they’re all important or will be addressed in this arc lol

maybe Goodwin should try being a fiction writer, just based off his hilarious episode descriptions that he comes up with on the spot shows he's got a knack for writing. and he's great at telling stories.
