In Haikyuu 2x21, Aoba Johsai's controversial new player enters the game for the second set and is very mad like some kind of animal. Maybe a dog. Oikawa's eye sound effects intensify.

Just a head's up cause I don't know how far along you are, but please don't forget to watch the extra ending clip after the last episode of season 2. It's about 6 minutes, part of the ending of the third Haikyuu recap movie. You can also find it on youtube if you type in Haikyuu movie 3 ending. I'll also post the link here, but please don't open it now as it will spoil you if you haven't finished the season. *SPOILER* https://youtu.be/Lao54_hFaA0

Every time "Stupid, Sexy Oikawa" is said I can't stop thinking of the Flanders scene where he is in his tight skiing outfit, but it's me imagining Oikawa in that get-up flaunting/shaking his bussom...What have you done to me Goodwin.

Something about Mad Dog’s play style is that he does not play like a normal opposite. Opposite hitters (same position as Daichi), hit from the right side, and tend to use slightly higher tempo balls (like 2nd or 3rd rather than 1st like middles). However, Mad Dog goes for attacks of all tempos and attacks from anywhere in the court, right, center, and left, which he technically isn’t supposed to do.

Another thing to note is that Mad Dog’s theme has lots of trumpets, which clashes with the guitar and rock that Aoba Johsai normally has.

Yamaguchi isnt a blocker but a server

I think you changed your opinion at the end there(?), about them subbing in mad dog due to a lack of confidence. But if you haven't, I would say, it's because of their confidence in their team and Oikawa to wield mad dog, that he was subbed in. I think Aoba Josai is well aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and they know their team as it is now, would find it difficult to win against Karasuno, and Mad Dog is the "evolution/change" they need to progress. We've seen Karasuno's evolution which was deconstructing and reconstructing and also scavenging for as many new and improved techniques as possible. And Aoba josai's seems to be similar to Nekoma, of introducing a new member. And it takes quite an immense amount of confidence as a team to accommodate and play with such a volatile teammate. I think personally that their choice of introducing change and instability comes from a place of major confidence of being able to triumph. Also can't wait for next episode, it's one of my absolute favourites. Gucci gang assemble. We're here to rally for our pinch server!!

Yeah I did change my opinion by the end. It's still Oikawa doing what he does best, utilizing the tools he has. Mad Dog is just a new and powerful tool

Swanlady

Yamaguchi wants to prove himself so badly, his resolve is strong enough to reach Ukai telepathically. If that's not a good omen, I don't know what is.

Skyler Anderson

I literally belt out laughing when this epic shot of Yamaguchi comes spinning around ready to get in there and Alex is just like "Oh no. please no. I can't take a THIRD heartbreak from this kid." LMFAO

That's not the reaction I expected to the Yamaguchi reveal LOL

Hannan

I know others have said but i wanted to try make it more clear for you. Yamaguchi is a pinch server. Which means he doesnt ever get subbed in to play as a blockers, setter or a spiker. He is only ever subbed in to hit serves. Which means he basically gets subbed in to replace a weak server (Hinata, Tsukki, Dachi) and will serve until either the other team scores or he gets the max amount of points he can before the server has to be changed which i think is 5. They will pretty much never have him on the floor when he isnt serving. The only time we do see that is when they are in practise matches or training

M2GZ

Right, all though I'm pretty sure there no max for how many serves he can do if he serves 15 times and scores each time he can keep going.

Athena

NOT THE LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN YAMAGUCHI lol I was looking for a different reaction than that! HAHA I think his eagerness to be subbed in says something about his self-esteem and the way he views himself now after his failures. Let's cross our fingers🤞🏽 and may the volleyball gods watch over us

UndeadDesk

I know its a late reply. Seems like it is infinite but 5 max for younger games, no idea if that applys here, i cant really remember
