While this may not be one of my favourite episodes of the series it’s one that my mind often comes back to. The idea that ‘humans are the embodiment of chaos’ is such a simple but perfect message in this episode. Because while I think of myself as a complicated person, full of contradictions, you can soo easily judge another person simply by a few actions that you have observed from them. When Gotou punches Rei the flashback in the past episodes has Gotou with this gloating grin but with some cool editing in this episode he actually just looks frustrated and maybe even a lil bit of shame. It’s soo good because of course Rei has a warped sense of man. Who can blame him really? But now with such a simple of act of the man defending his mentor than it just makes everything more complicated. This series is just so damn good and does such a good service to its characters!

It was a bit of a relief for me because I always kind of liked Gotou and hoped there was more to him. Then the show did the complexity justice
