The youtube video seems to be cut short

You're right, looks like an export error. I'll re-export and upload again. Thanks!

Yeah the last scene is a bit weird but i think its just supposed to be them goofing around. I think this is a big step for Kiriyama. He has been very reserved so far, with most interactions being initiated by others/related to shogi only. This episode not only do we see him get very animated about shogi but about other stuff as well.

I think that the last scene between Rei and Nikaidou with the duck, represents how Nikaidou brings this new energy to Rei where he is able to be passionate about things. Also being part of the club and interacting with new people is already helping in a lot

I'm seriously glad you're liking the show. It's one of my favorite animes from a character/writing perspective. It's also made and directed by Shaft -- one of my favorite anime studios, sort of a perfect storm. Hopefully you check out the Monogatari series afterwords or sometime...! It's directed by the same studio and is also a fantastically written series that has a lot of amazing characters. Though it can be a bit more wacky, hopefully that type of energy is something you can enjoy. :P

Outside looking in, despite going through his own struggles, succumbing to isolation and loneliness, it's so comforting to see Rei surrounded by so many great people- from all the members in the shogi club(minus Gotou), to Hayashida sensei to the Kawamoto family and even his adopted father. The show, despite feeling tragic at times, still feels like a warm hug as it reminds me of all the wonderful people around us that we fail to notice and rely on at trying times. Like the wise words of Hayashida, it's okay to lean on people and ask for help.

The teacher’s name is Mr. Hayashida. Best to know his name if he’s going to be the new character you simp for.
