Such a great movie, but I'm gonna have to watch this reaction tmrw. Can't wait to hear your thoughts, I was so hyped in the theatre watching this mainly because of all the Gojo/Geto focus.

brother i have been WAITING for this reaction to drop. i saw this movie when it originally came out in theaters back in March. my friend works for a movie theater so she got me in for free (free popcorn as well) and it was such an experience. i've watched it 3 times since it came to crunchy roll last month

Oh man. I've been so busy recently that I haven't been able to catch up with reactions. But I just have to say that I had so much fun with this movie that it really made me start reading the manga. Also this movie made me a big fan of best girl, Maki!

There really is something very Eva-esqe about this movie. From Shinji's VA, to the why are you at jujutsu high speech, and the higher up's doing their best SEELE impersonation; I totally felt the Eva Vibes emanating from this movie. One of my favorite anime movies personally.

- Rika’s mother died suddenly from unknown causes when Rika was five. - Two days before entering elementary school, Rika and her father got lost while mountain climbing. One week later, Rika was found alone and rescued from a shelter near the summit. - At the hospital, she met Yuta, who was being treated for pneumonia. They later ended up going to the same elementary school. - Her father was never found, and his death was never confirmed. - Aware of how her appearance is perceived, Rika sometimes manipulates adults. - Rika was taken in by her grandmother on her father’s side, who strongly believed Rika killed both her parents. - Rika stole the ring she gave Yuta from her grandmother’s dresser. It was her mother’s wedding ring. - When she was human, Rika was very friendly with Yuta’s younger sister. Wait lmao I’ve read the manga but I didn’t read JJK0, so is rika like actually just an insane child and that’s why she responds so well to Yutas cursed energy? Like is she actually a murderer??? That would be low key insane lmao. Because we know from the manga that Yuta is obviously strong enough to create a special grade curse apparition, he literally does it in this movie, but I always wondered why his first attempt as a child was so successful. This was before he received any training at all… this is very very interesting.

If they do a direct manga adaptation then that whole geto, gojo focused backstory should be part 1 of the next season, they might just skip to shibuya though idk.

Geto is not the equivalent of Gojo, special grade is the highest rank achievable only 4 people hold the title of, but like the fight between the finger bearer and Sukuna in the early episodes on season 1, there's often a massive difference between even special grades. Think of it as a top .1% and a top .001%, the gap between an absolute anomaly and someone of extreme skill is still big.

Ah yeah that makes sense. I think when I said that I was thinking more in terms of where they stand in the story, with the links being Geto - Gojo and Mahito Yuji. Kind of like All Might-All for One and Deku - Shigaraki. But that might not be right either

No they said they are doing Hidden Inventory arc. Plus they got a pretty damn good fight in there and an important piece of the story.

These are just some references made in the anime that ties into this movie - Megumi said Yuta is probably the only senpai he respects the most, while introducing the 2nd years to Nobara - It's said that Todo defeated one special grade and 5 first grade curses during the night parade of the 100 demons. It's unfortunate the fight wasn't included in the movie or the manga though. - Geto originally wields playful cloud(the 3 linked staff weapon). And during the anime, we see Maki and Megumi use it against Hanami(the earth curse). Though while wielding it, Maki says she doesn't like using it probably due to the fact that it was Geto's - Nanami and his record of the 4 consecutive black flashes. - And all the times we saw Geto in season one, not using his cursed energy and working from the shadows since he doesn't want Gojo or the jujutsu sorcerers to know of his whereabouts is obviously ominous foreshadowing. - Also, during the tournament arc, it's mentioned that Yuta was the only first year who attended the tournament in Kyoto and the tokyo school took the overwhelming win. This was also prior to Yuta freeing Rika Todo also mentions how Yuta was the only one who could defeat him and holds him in high regard. That's pretty much all I caught onto

In terms of consolidated power the mini convo between Geto and Gojo in that flashback reveals a lot. Geto's goal does seems crazy and unrealistic, but if he had Gojo's power it would easily become a reality. If he wanted to Gojo could kill every single person in Japan and nobody could really fight back against him. If they switched ideologies the movie would be a lot shorter lol.

I also don’t know if anyone’s said this yet and Patreon is being janky on me today and not loading all comments lol. Regarding that end credit scene, I don’t know if it’ll be covered in Season 2 or if that scene was as much as they’ll leave it at; but in short terms I’ll just say that, yes that was when the first season mentioned that Yuta was overseas on a mission. And Gojo going over there to visit Yuta real quick was the destination for where he was before he returned in episode 14 to the Tokyo vs Kyoto arc with gifts to pass out from his trip

@DefaultGoblin/benj I'm pretty sure the hidden inventory arc is confirmed by Mappa so rest assured it's definitely getting adapted. It's too important to skip and also introduces two really important characters that are pivotal to the story. Not to forget the 1st teaser visual basically alludes to that arc, I can't imagine they would skip it.

Fun fact: The man who ran over Rika was the guy they found dead in the juvenile detention center. That explains why Megumi was so angry and said “what if someone you save kills someone”. Maki seems more abrasive in this film likely because she had just left her terrible family and hadn’t gotten rid of many of the rough edges.

I wouldn't call that a "fun" fact lmao. I love Maki's abrasiveness in this movie, this was actually by far the most I've enjoyed her character and I now understand why everyone was hyping her up so much during season one. Miwa still best girl though.
