Will you be reacting to Vinland Saga S2? Sorry if that has been asked elsewhere before, I don't see it.

Also, on a side note, I’d sell my left kidney to the person who tells me what that magestic, low, sad opera OST is, the one that happened when Askeladd killed the villagers that keeps playing in the show.

I would enjoy a Q&A. I enjoyed watching Vinland again with you :) Second season should be coming in january I believe. If you wish you can watch the trailer of the second season. It doesn´t show any straightforward spoilers, at best the theme of season 2. or you can go completely blind. When you say "if season 2 its half as good as this". I believe season 2 its better than season 1, but its more niche. If I had to guess you will love it

It's nice to consider that Askeladd had the perfect chance of showing Thorfinn the real actual killer of his father who is Floki (the guy who ordered to kill Thors) but he never did and has always put himself as Thorfinn's target his entire life and when he was dying instead of telling Throfinn who the real killer of his father was and making him pursue his revenge story he instead tell him to move on and seek Thors' path of becoming a real warrior and basically burying Thorfinn's reason of revenge by his death.

The trailer was pretty damn good too. I second this

Man, when you started this series, I already couldn't wait for this episode to come

There was an official guidebook translation, and the author described Askeladd as "an amazing tsundere dad". I can't wait for season 2 and I can't wait to see how Thorfinn processes the relationship he had with Askeladd :(

17:00 uses the same framing as when Thorfinn is held by Thors when he died. I’ll let you decide what to think about the author’s choice of framing there, as it’s a pretty common debate among anime fans whether or not Thorfinn himself saw Askeladd as a father figure deep down. Also, I think that it’s one of the most touching things that the only time Thorfinn throws away his blade is when he’s reaching out for Askeladd. All this time and the memory of Thors couldn’t do it. With all of season 1 in retrospect, it becomes clear that Askeladd wanted Thors to become their leader, and that when Thors responded negatively was when he replied that he was joking. Askeladd, in my opinion, then grew fond of Thorfinn. Perhaps he was hoping some of Thors would shine through, which is why he was so disappointed in episode 22 that he gave Thorfinn and Canute a lecture about killing his father. Askeladd’s arc is just so dense and well-written that it’s a shock that most of this show is actually Thorfinn’s story (which I assure is just as mind blowing as Askeladd’s). I can’t help but gush about it.

There’s a trailer for S2 out now. We’re getting the same studio switch that AoT got from WIT to MAPPA.

I hadn't been watching your reactions to Vinland Saga, as my intention was to binge them in December to refresh myself before S2. And yet, I couldn't stop myself from tuning in for the king's death. Seeing your shocked reaction to that scene was totally worth it. I remember feeling the same way during my first watch thru. Such an epic moment!

Not exactly the same studio switch cause the entire original team that made season 1 at WIT, were actually hired on to continue season 2 at MAPPA. So unlike with AoT, Vinland isn’t actually changing hands to any different animators. They’re simply changing studio names, and based on the financial struggles that WIT has been in for the past few years, switching over to Mappa can really only make the next season better since Mappa has more resources readily available to produce with
