Long post incoming! But first...

TLDR

  • Let me know what you'd like to see included in the next show poll (see my current list below)
  • The show not decided by poll will be either Violet Evergarden or March Comes in Like a Lion
  • Q&As are coming back! (I will post the form in a few days)
  • Merch coming soon
  • Love you guys

New Shows

Both JJK and Kaguya are ending soon and as usual, the end of each show will be followed by a day off and then a Q&A for the series.

About the next shows:

One show will be decided by poll, but I'd like to know how you guys would like to do poll options. One option would be to do the previous poll's top 10 finalists + other shows that are frequently recommended.

At this point it would look something like this:

  • Assassination Classroom
  • Hunter X Hunter
  • Violet Evergarden
  • Haikyuu
  • Steins Gate
  • Gravity Falls
  • One Punch Man
  • Re: Zero
  • Erased
  • Banana Fish
  • Vinland Saga
  • The Boys

Let me know if there are any glaring omissions. I'm limited to 25 options for Patreon polls but am happy to use all the remaining slots for recommendations., so this post will be an informal poll of sorts in that regard ((Google docs was highly controversial last time lol (no Boku no Pico this time, sorry)).

The second show will be either Violet Evergarden or March Comes in Like a Lion (and whichever one I don't watch I will choose the next time).

Let me know your thoughts! Hopefully I can post the poll in the next few days.

Q&As & Podcast

It's been a very VERY long time since I posted a monthly Q&A and that's been eating at me for quite some time since it's a promised perk on Patreon. There have been 2 reasons for their absence.

The last time I edited a Q&A, my computer caught fire right as I was finishing up. I took my laptop to a repair center hoping to get it fixed and salvage that and other things, but it ended up being a 3-month long nightmare and never got fixed. This was hugely discouraging and knocked me out of the habit (and desire I guess) to think about Q&As for quite a while.

Another was that I have a really crazy story to tell about my life that I have been unable to tell yet for a variety of reasons. It's been hard to imagine talking about my life honestly without covering these events. I guess part of me was holding out thinking there would be a point where I could talk about it. But I've decided that while I still really can't get into it, that shouldn't stop me from talking about the things I can talk about and doing questions at least.

Anyway, the Q&As will resume next month (I'll post the question form soon). And apologies to those who asked a question in the last Q&A that never got answered. Please ask them again if you're still interested :D

An idea in connection to the Q&As: I would like to use them as a jumping-off point for a podcast starting in the next few months. The way this would work is that in each episode, I would pick a topic to talk about, and then answer questions from the Q&A. I would like the podcast to be non-show specific, so I think the best way to approach this is to have a Patreon version of the Q&A / podcast where I answer every question including show questions, and then a public version that includes only non-show related topics. I'm not sure where I will host the podcast yet but I will likely start a second YouTube channel for excerpts or maybe even the full thing, depending.

I like this idea for a few reasons:

  • It would be nice to have a place to talk about things that don't come up organically through watching shows or to elaborate on ideas beyond the a length reasonable for YouTube videos.
  • It helps me branch out, be less dependent on YouTube, and be less fearful of channel destruction through copyright claims.
  • It helps me target topics on YouTube that are trending / topical.

Also very interested to hear your thoughts on this!

Merch

Merch is coming soon! I'm currently in the process of ordering samples to check quality. I would love feedback when it's up, but I thought it would be better to just make the basic infrastructure first and throw up a few designs to have a solid starting point that wasn't just conceptual. You guys will of course get a discount on everything. More info when I'm ready to launch, probably in a few weeks.

I have more to say but I think that's already a lot lmao.

Thanks for reading this far!

Love you guys and see you soon for the next video :D

idk what your experience/knowledge is with Isekai tropes specifically and just broader general anime/otaku tropes, but I would NOT recommend Re-Zero if you haven't watched a typical Isekai. It will probably be the most difficult show to make reactions for you've done so far. There are A LOT of subtleties and a few bigger things that will go right over your head if you don't understand the genre and how it subverts, makes fun of, or acknowledges Isekai tropes. The show also just has a lot that's going on to keep track of, so it's easy to miss a ton if you're not on top of things. I think it would be really awesome show for you to watch in the future, because it's honestly a really amazing show with a lot to appreciate and it's totally unique right now with how well it's executed, but you can only watch it a first time once and I guarantee it will be worth waiting.

Hey! This is a longshot, but have you are ever interested in trying something slightly different, i would recommend the Fate stay night visual novel, it's midway between a book and a show, very interesting story. Major drawback is that it's long (around 90-100 hours to complete the 3 stories)
