i REALLY hope that in the flashback scene with Shigure and Akito they weren't supposed to have romantic feelings yet, considering Akito is about 10 and Shigure 16. but knowing how Takaya loves age gaps i wouldn't be surprised sadly lol

i love how Kyo and Tohru always have sunset scenes, because there's a LITERAL SUNSET on their relationship because of the impending threat of Kyo going to the cage

I love that you picked up on and used the word passion becuase it’s an idea that was foreshadowed back in season 1 in episode 10 when shigure is talking to hatori. He says “do you remember that morning, the dream. We all woke from it crying. You, me, aya, for you two it became something twisted and painful, but for me those feelings still linger unfaded. That affection, that passion, so thrillingly sweet and sad” and then his younger self saying “I don’t want it to end, I want it to last forever, I want to give it form and make it mine, I will.” They really gave everything about shigure away there if we’d known what it meant at the time.

so i'm not arguing that Shigure is a worse person than Akito, i don't want anyone to think that. HOWEVER- when it comes to their relationship alone i think Shigure is HORRIBLE, much more so than Akito. as far as we know as the audience, Shigure and Akito NEVER said they were exclusive, never said they wouldn't sleep with other people. so while Kureno and Akito's relationship is twisted, she techinically wasn't doing anything she shouldn't have to Shigure. Shigure then takes this and sleeps with Akito's horrible, abusive mother. he slept with the woman who was so horrible to the person that he loves. and now he manipulates and gaslights Akito about it, saying it's Akito's fault. So while i think Akito has done many bad things, when it comes to her and Shigure i'm just thinking "run girl! get away from him" lmao

In case you didn't notice, the scenery of the beginning of the outro has changed, from last episode being Tohru's scarf laying next to Kyoko's picture frame and the Zodiac figures, but in this episode it has the white rose that Kyo gave to Tohru and the cap that Yuki gave to Tohru which was originally Kyo's. The opening shot of the outro will keep changing depending on what happens in the episode so make sure to keep an eye out for it in the future.

The revelation that Akito is a woman or Kureno's curse being broken is tantamount to the fact that Shigure got kicked out of the main sohma estate for being a actual motherfucker. You sly sly dog Shigure.

i think the flowers represent love, the white one being pure love and red being passionate love. the flower Machi gave Yuki was white, same with the one Kyo gave Tohru, but Shigure gave Akito the red flower (which is on point considering Akito's character is represented by the red camilia)

The scene where Shigure took off Akito's tie before they kissed was in the season 3 trailer. I remember being absolutely flabbergasted watching it for the first time. For fruits baskets being a romance anime there isn't a whole lot of spice (obviously since most of the characters are only in high school) so watching that moment had me on the edge of my seat.

I love Shigure’s character. I’m enamored by the darkness mixed with concern. He is a dynamic character who is in gray territory. The characters in this show tend to lean either more into light or dark territory with the overwhelming characters being in light territory. Shigure does morally good and morally bad things. He is just so damn interesting to me. I don’t see the whole “Shigure evil” narrative going on here, he has definitely been helpful and kind to many of the show’s beloved characters. For me only Tohru and Kyo are better characters in the whole show.

I wanna know where Kyo got that flower from, did he make it in the time tohru was inner monologuing or what? idk if Shigure even wants the curse to be broken??? maybe i've just confused myself into thinking that I can't figure shigure out but its probably just because its been awhile so i can't remember much anymore XD

this episode really showcases another reason for akito’s hatred of femininity, i haven’t really taken my time to analyze it as a whole so i could be totally wrong, but i think it’s really interesting how akito feels threatened by ren in that regard. i feel like it completely twists your perception of akito when you see how deeply it messed her up to know her mother slept with the guy who she loved, especially considering her mother is the one that constantly taunts her with the idea that none of the zodiac members truly loves her and wouldn’t be close to her if it weren’t for the bond (which, considering akito’s personality and actions, is completely right) and how that reflects in her interactions with any other females in the show. there’s another detail about that that is coming in the next few chapters that i think you’ll enjoy to talk about, as always great reaction!!

So. Uh. Ren isn't a member of the zodiac, nor is she the "God" role that Akito fills in the story. Shigure IS a member of the zodiac, who transforms into a dog upon hugging a member of the opposite sex. (it's really more like torso contact, keep in mind) And. Well. You all remember s1 e4 when Kagura was explaining to Tohru why it's better for zodiac members to fall in love with and get married to other zodiac members? He said, backing her up "You'd still transform everytime your spouse embraced you. Sex would be-" before Yuki cut him off. He. he had to have transformed, right? and so, was speaking from experience?? my friends hate me because i brought this up as a possibility lmao

I love Shigure's character. He might be the most honnest out of the bunch when it comes to himself. He knows his strengh and weakness, accept them, and don't intend to change for the sake of others. It's actually pretty good because he thinks about his own need first. The others are, in a way, disposable to him. And yet, he's not all darkness and bad stuff. He's a people person, he understand how they act and think. That's why he can push them in the right direction. Being Hatori and Mayu, for example. Because Shigure cares about people, but in a twisted way. Just like Akito. Because he knows how life truly is, he doesn't turn his back on it. That's why I want to much more of the Mabudachi trio. On the opposite, Ayame and Hatori are both weak and vulnerable to their feelings. They regret stuff, they want to do better. Not Shigure. As Mayu said it, he's the water you can never catch, who vomes and goes as it pleases. Talking about pity, his relationship with Akito is fascinating. He's the only one who truly cares about Akito, yet not seeing her as a helpless little girl. He doesn't excuse her behavior and doesn't comfort her like Hatori or Kureno would. Because he doesn't pity her, he loves her. Deeply, from the very start. It may be because of the bond at first. That's why it turned out so painfully for the other. Not for Shigure, even if he resent her. The love he felt never change, and he can't help it. Even if the curse broke, that would not change. That's why their relationship could work if they both make an effort. Shigure by being more honest about his feelings with her, Akito by growing up and healing. But granted, Akito has to do most of the work x) And the only one who can make a difference is Tohru. Who can understand what she's going through. By being her opposite, yet completing her. Two little girls crushed by grief and sorrow, who could do so much with each other. If the story had turned dufferently, I would have ship them. They really need more interactions with another, and we could have had a beautiful ennemy to lovers situation. Too bad...

This is the season where you see just how well planned out this story was. You never even really stop to think why Shigure doesn't live in the main estate, but then you get that bombshell reason and things just keep falling into place.

I love how mysterious Shigure's goals were in the beginning and this one ep reveals everything. I should be so much more disturbed by him but I'm not. Magic and abuse are just running rampant all over this clan. I also love seeing the scheming and manipulation of Shigure/Akito compared to the purity and guilelessness of Kyo/Tohru.

God I just love this episode!! Imagine as a viewer we would always see Shigure’s house like a safe place for all the sohmas to gather and it’s home for Tohru, but for Shigure it’s a constant reminder that Akito slept with Kureno and he with her momma out of spite! It also shows why the dog spirit is influencial to their behaviors, like dogs are the most loyal and playful but can be super aggressive and territorial
