So, just for the sake of catalogue and because I just like explaining things, here are the things you've seen thus far in Series 5 that this movie would have spoiled: First and foremost, Deku having multiple Quirks, and that being the reason Nine couldn't steal from him - he didn't have the capacity. Though Black Whip isn't actually used since Deku has barely even trained with it, Nine literally says something along the lines of "it looks like this kid has multiple Quirks", and that was the biggest reason people wanted you to wait until at least after the first arc lol. Also, there's the confirmed existence of the Vestiges of One For All, and that they can make conscious decisions, when before it was said that they didn't quite have any will. It also shows most of their appearances. Smaller, but Tokoyami's flying technique, Black Fallen Angel, as well as Iisa's Recipro Turbo, are shown casually here, when they're more big moments in their first showcase in the anime. I think that moment is kind of diminished when you just see him flying around here first. And also Aoyama's Navel Buffet but that ones not necessarily as big lol. There are others as well - some different costumes, some appearances, stuff you haven't gotten to yet in the anime so I won't go into detail, but nothing as blatant as the Quirks thing lol, so I'm fine with the movie being watched here. Glad you got to it and looking forward to the rest of the series!!

idk why people were so adamant on you watching this before the end of the season, you only get the full context as to what the league are doing in this movie after a certain arc but it's okay. just maybe think about it after you finish the season or something to get what the movie's worth :)

Matthew Richson

I remember when I first watched this movie, the last 30 minutes left me in total awe. It wasn’t until after season 5 I noticed the continuity errors regarding a specific character, though I’m willing to bet those were deliberate in order to not give anything away.

benj

Can’t wait to watch this in full tomorrow when I have the time. This movie is genuinely amazing. In my opinion by far the best movie out of the three. As Matthew said, the last 30 mins truly left me speechless for the entire last battle scene. The use of the whole class plus the Bakugo x Deku teamup was just perfect. I’m super interested to see what you liked and didn’t like about the movie!

Xeno

Heck of a lot more than that. When this aired, Twice couldn't make more than two clones, the doctor an Hawks hadn't had an anime appearance, Tomura wasn't missing fingers, Endeavor didn't have his scar, etc etc.

Anonymous

Now I'm curious what you are talking about! Maybe you can comment when Alex finishes season 5? :D

Deiondre0

I was wondering why I felt instantly attached to Katsuma and recently figured out why. Having the same VA as Alphonse Elric would do that to me

Kamolak

I'm in these halls running for my dreams with a smile on my face

Puffin

this is my favorite of the 3 MHA movies we have so far, a lot of that being the Class 1-A teamwork.

Kamolak

I showed up to the theater late and missed the first 10min, but loved this movie. I think at the time I liked the first one more, but watching now hits different.

TYE AND MHA damn we getting spoiled today

Fun fact, the idea of Deku giving One For All to Bakugo was originally supposed to be part of the ending to the whole manga, but instead ended up being used for this movie. Love the movie, really dig the video! Hope you had a nice Christmas!

Jake White

Unless I’m mistaken, the lightning power is Nine’s original quirk but it’s so powerful that using it basically destroys his body. That’s why he was seeking out a cell activation or regeneration quirk to help him use it and stay healthy. That’s also why he was using the lightning quirk right after stealing Katsuma’s dad’s quirk. He was testing his new quirk’s ability to keep him well while using the lightning power.

BotheredAsh

Happy early birthday to me! My birthday is the 27th, same as Uraraka! This is my favorite movie so far and it's what made Bakugou my 2nd favorite character. I also really love how it showcases almost everyone in class 1-A.

Aura Y

This really is a great movie for the series. It highlights a lot of all the heroism that exists in all the students and shows how much they genuinely care about helping others, plus it goes a little more into the discrimination of society too. More worldbuilding is always nice. I also like to attribute Bakugou to returning One-For-All instead of the predecessors granting Deku the power. It would not only show how much he's grown over the show especially in his relationship with Deku, but also would be in line with his character of wanting to win on his own merits. Also some subtle nods in the movie: Deku gets the final line "You CAN become a hero" to Katsuma, an homage to All-Might telling a powerless Midoriya that he can become a hero too. Also Katsuma is shown running towards Nine to save his system, like when Deku ran towards the Slime Villain in episode one. "A hero's body moves before they even realize"

Jake White

Also holy crap I’ve seen this movie like a dozen times by now and I’m somehow only just now noticing that after freezing Chimera, Todoroki’s last word before passing out was “Bakugo...” What an adorably sweet little notion of camaraderie from him to be worried at that moment about his buddy that he took the remedial course with (and had a hilariously awkward interview with) lol

Emma Root

I kinda wish Bakugou was able to give it back to Deku too! The whole one for all just sorta let it happen is sorta unsatisfying to me, especially the Bakugou forgetting part, but it's understandable for an anime movie that's trying to not affect the established plot too much. I think this might be my favorite movie, the third one was the only one I've seen in theaters so it's a big contender but this movie by far has the best class 1A working together and great Bakugou and Deku moments

Sage

Something I noticed the two kids cheering for Bakugo and Deku really echoed back to the time Deku and Bakugo cheered Almights name when fighting one for all in Kamino

Juan

I'm an anime watcher so not a spoiler but it seems like the past holders give up their powers and it get incorporated into one for all kinda like black whip? So I think if bakugo gave it back he would have lost his quirk. I really think it's a cop out the way they dealt with it but I still really enjoyed the movie.

Skyler Anderson

This movie is great for the action and all the fun team ups that we wouldn't see otherwise. The animation is amazing and the final fight is so cool. But you can't overlook the blatant fan service level fight and the most convenient way to brush off Bakugou getting OFA. Regardless I loved this movie more than the first one and MIGHT be my favorite movie but I still loved the new movie maybe better from a narrative perspective.

Nick A Sam III

In late Season 6 or early Season 7 you’ll get a concrete answer for why OFA couldn’t be passed on. Though, personally, I figured the slap of Bakugo’s hand against Deku was him subconsciously giving it back and would prefer that too

Stephen Mailman

This is the only movie I’ve gone to the theatre twice for! Love it

Jenny bete

So, fun fact, Horikoshi was involved a lot in this movie because Bakugo and Deku's big fight together with shared power was actually an idea for the ending of the manga. This movie brought me almost to tears many times. Shoji protecting the children even though he's bleeding out, Tokoyami losing control after Ashido got hurt, the sister doing everything to protect her brother, everyone's fantastic teamwork, Bakugo not wanting to have One for All at first because he knew what that meant for Deku's dream and Deku telling Bakugo that it's fine if it's him and so many more moments. It is just an amazing movie truly. Also, Shoji is underrated imo. And yeah I agree that it would have been nice to see Bakugo giving it back, he absolutely would have. I'm with you on that fan theory hahaha.

Thats why his voice was bothering me the whole movie hahaha, I was trying to figure it out where I knew it from

ComicalSkate

Heroes Rising eh? After these first few minutes I've watched I think its more like Heroes Dying! badum tisk

MHA and ATLA are the only two series (so far) for me that stirred a previously unknown feeling: that while both series are nearly flawless masterpieces, I’ll have these emotional moments where I find myself in an existential state of realizing I’ll never create anything of equal magnitude/impact ever in my life. Which is of course, unknown. But crippling to think about sometimes when I’m writing or creating my own art. As a wedding photographer I get just a taste of what it feels like to leave a lasting impact in the form of documented history. The couples and families I work with will have their photos forever. Their kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews, and those that will never meet them, will still have embers of their lives stored away either in boxes, albums, or digitally to be infinitely passed on. When I put my own work into perspective, it’s not as grand, moving, or impactful as things like MHA and ATLA that in some respects change our outlooks or lives, even if it’s just a tiny bit. And then I remember that things like MHA/ATLA don’t come together under one person; but rather a team of people cooperating together to contribute to this almost-familial impact to those who watch. I don’t know if its grounding or overwhelmingly intimidating. I just know that I want to be a part of something like that before I die, because the only thing left after we crumble into the world are the things we left behind.

Anonymous

I don’t like the ending but the movie was so fun to watch!!

Kameron Y

I think the reason Bakugou couldn't give it back is because OFA would've accumulated Bakugou's quirk, so then Deku would have it, and that would just be too drastic for a movie that's not meant to have major effects on the plot of the show.

Anonymous

Im a relatively new patron, and i have never seen you with facial hair. so seeing the facial hair is so jarring! XD, you look good with it though honestly!

UndeadDesk

Sero is actually amazing. This dude does so much, he deserves a lot more

Kamolak

loved all the focus on characters other than Deku and Bakugo in this movie, they did that good too, but absolutely loved that the others all shined. (except invisible girl)

benj

I mean now with Deku’s new ability he is totally irrelevant lmao

Tyler Owens

This was great to wake up to. Hope you enjoyed the movie half as much as I did rewatching it 😁

ComicalSkate

This movie is great! You know what's greater though? Alex rocking that stubble lol

Jason

The movies are canon.

kingafreund

If I'm being honest, logically, this movie works even less for me than the first one, like, especially the power escalation stuff and the OfA thing, but, just like the first movie, I don't really care in the end, because it works emotionally (and is just a lot of fun in general). I'm a sucker for all that Class 1A teamwork and shine after all, so I like it even more than the first movie. Ultimately, I just consider the movies not canon so I don't have to do the mental gymnastics to make it work with the main series, and just enjoy them, sort of like cool AU stuff, I guess. On that note, remember the Fantasy MHA Ending? I'm fervently hoping they'll make a Movie out of that one day! Btw, what's the final verdict on the spoilers, for future reference? Are you glad you waited, or should I ask again once you finish S5? I think the Hawks secret investigation one is probably the biggest, and Tokoyami flying also comes to mind....

Anonymous

No they re not, but keep living in your anime only fever dream

Mortis

The movies are canon. What mental gymnastics are you thinking you need to do?

agoodwintv

After having sat with the movie for a few days I think that is my favorite part by far

Mers0n

I think this movie works so long as you view it as a stand alone thing. Supposedly this is how the mangaka had originally wanted to conclude the series but since changed his mind. So they decided to turn it into a movie instead. I assume Nine was a stand in for what would have normally been All For One or Shigaraki. I like to view this movie as an alternate ending to the series rather than canon.

Mortis

It is canon. Horikoshi worked on it. Nine appeared in chapter 222, the opening car chase is set up in chapter 240, and Nezu mentions the program from this movie in chapter 242. Horikoshi also wrote a backstory chapter for nine

Anonymous

This movie is fucking awesome. People who get all into how "canon" it is just annoy me. Mr. Goodwin can figure it out for himself, folks.

Jupiterninja

Wow. A lot of crazy bullsh!t in this one huh?

rainyfriday

In this movie, Deku becomes Spider-man.

Muchymozzarella

I realise why I missed this - because I got horribly ill with COVID LOL, but now I'm happy to watch it :D

Muchymozzarella

Sorry I'm late to the party, but I gotta tell you that this is definitely the BEST of the three films, though I like World Heroes Mission a lot more than Two Heroes. Can't wait to see you react to that!

Muchymozzarella

A SUPER interesting thing to note in this movie is that Shigaraki killed Nine without using his five fingers, which are covered in the last scene. A hint for the later reveal of his power.

Muchymozzarella

I just now realized that there's a parachute beside All Might when he's cradling Deku, which means AM parachuted in to get to him, which I find to be AWESOME and ADORABLE and I wish I could've seen it.

L.C.

I get chills every time I see that amazing sequence of animation at the end. Also the music is called "Might U" and it was the perfect song to have behind that sequence. It is all in English and sung by an English singer I think here in the US and the studio had her come out to Japan to perform it. I am glad you made note of Deku and the sacrifice he made when giving up one for all. It really solidifies the type of character he is. He was perfectly content with basically giving up his dreams all for the sake of saving others. It really backs up what all might sees in him and how far he is willing to go to show the true qualities of a hero.
