Apologies again for yesterday's mixed up schedule. Just to be clear, tomorrow will be MHA episode 4x3, and then back to normal with Fruits Basket the following day.

I personally ended up watching 4 episodes into this season when I meant to just watch one. And I gotta say, it's shaping up to be fantastic. The production alone seems leaps above Season 3, in terms of animation and direction. At least imo. It's rare for a show to make me feel compelled to binge more even when I'm tired. But these first eps did that to me will update after watching

I only caught up to MHA recently but it does seem like this season is a fan fav. I’m not really sure though, you’d have to ask a more established fan 😭 but I will say I loved it and it definitely raised my blood pressure ☺️

Shigaraki and Overhaul meeting is one of my favorite scenes in the series due to how well it characterizes both of them in relation to their subordinates. After witnessing Magne's death, Shigaraki warns Mr. Compress not to rush in. He orders Twice and Toga to stay back while he goes toe to toe with Overhaul, a man he just watched explode someone with a touch. On the flip side, Overhaul, seeing Shigaraki closing in, demands one of his goons shield him from the killing blow. This is the fundamental divide in their thinking: Overhaul believes those under him are tools to be used and expended. Shigaraki places value in the lives of the League, and even risks himself for their sakes.

My favorite part of the s4 intro. In the intro of pretty much every other season, Deku and All Might stand together. In the s1 intro specifically, all might was a shining light that deku tried desperately to touch. But now, there's no one to reach for. It continues the idea from s3 that deku is "alone". Of course it has a positive spin, but it has a pretty dark undercurrent (something you've mentioned previously). If s1-3 were the prologue, s4 is the start of deku's journey as his own hero.

Yes, Kaminari is playing with Ojiro's tail. It's a weirdly intimate habit, but who am I to judge. I scratch other people's beards when I take molly, and that's just how I am. I love how immediately Mirio has become Best Boy. He is the cutest thing. (His name is Mirio Togata. Mirio is his first name, and Togata is his last name. Togata-go see! To-gotta-go see! I remember at the start of the series you were told about the filler season openers and was like “yeah I won’t skip an episode” and now it’s becoming more “yeah there’s not a whole lot going on” I appreciate you not wasting an upload with this one though, the reporter story is just a snooze to me

i'm sad Magne died here, i actually really found her character interesting, and i think it would've been cool for the series to explore more lgbt themes, like how even if they're villains, there's something to be said about The League of Villains accepting Magne when hero society wouldn't.

That's a great point. I was thinking later that Shigaraki and his crew seem a lot closer, especially compared to where they started. I think it was when Toga was sort of taunting him to counter-attack. There was something very comfortable about it, if that makes sense.

There really wasn't much of anything, which is why I decided to cut it. It felt like a lot more recap than normal, and the original stuff focused largely on the journalist, as opposed to the kids. The only thing that really stood out to me was the fact that Aizawa told Iida to let him know if anything went wrong, which I thought was a big deal and huge compliment for Iida lol.

That's a great way of looking at it and clears that up for me. I was wondering... where is the shot of them together? But we got that last intro, and it does make sense that from here on out, Deku (and everyone else) can't rely on All Might in the same way anymore.

I really understand most of the villains more after that episode with Twice. It makes sense why Magne would join villains, at least if MHA's world treats trans people the way the real world does. Unsure. I mean, there was the pro hero tiger but yeah. In general, it's hard to see some of the villains as full on bad guys. Which is probably a good thing, because nobody strictly fits into the category of bad. Also I agree it's a bit of a bummer she died here, but it does immediately set Overhaul as extremely terrifying. I will say it's pretty gutsy on the mangaka's part to have a trans character in a manga/anime at all. If I'm not mistaken, it's still not super accepted in Japan (could be wrong).

I think All Might's change in perspective is the result of losing his power. During the Sports Festival he was preparing Deku for an impending future, but now that future has arrived. All Might can look at the bigger picture more clearly now that the cloud of uncertainty has dispersed.

Yeah the production levels are amazing and defo an upgrade this season, Season 5 has taken a massive hit in animation though to the point where animators are being forced by the studio to draw less complex actions scenes because they arent being given enough time/money to fully animate the scenes, its really unfortunate so enjoy this high production while it lasts as it may never come back to the TV version of MHA, the movies continue to be the peak of production within this universe though, I'm sure the upcoming third movie is gonna hit new heights animation wise.

Havent watched yet, but to be honest, the s4 recap is my fave recap. Probably because it feels like an episode to me rather than a recap and all the previous story was told without it seeming like it was being shoved down my throat. Also the reporter story is kinda cute and his support for deku is just so wholesome. Rant over, I'm gonna watch now.

I remember how shocked I was at Magne's death to Overhaul, it just instantly sets him up as a massive threat and true villian, the direction and animation is so good in all the Overhaul scenes, the shows best action scenes are for sure riddled throughout the season, with one of the best episodes and by far the best action scene coming in the S4 Finale. Can't wait!

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I'm wondering how much of his change of heart is also specifically related to the fact that he sort of reaped what he sowed a little bit. His life of pretending he could do everything caught up to him, which he directly alluded to I think with his comment about Night Eye being right, and after reflection perhaps he has come to understand the potential danger that poses to Deku as well.

Yeah I think I connected to previous recap episodes more because at least there was slice of life stuff happening with the class.

Big Sis Mag :( This season kicked up my excitement for the show. Before I was already loving it but from here on out the increased focus on the League and Shigaraki had me actually feeling impatient for more. I'm starting to really root for him even though he's an evil murderer.

AND it's somehow not the worst thing this show does. It sets up Mineta as a perv, denies him fan service, and then gives fans the fan service anyway. Fan service of minors... just why? I love the show, I hate that it is tainted in my mind for those reasons.

Will never understand why Kaminari plays with Ojiro's tail but Its precious regardless Togeta is Mirio's last name so he was making a pun out of it XD "we're going to get a lot of heroic deaths this season" at first i was like \wait what\ and then u explained ur thought process and I'm just like YEAH YEAHHHH NICE CATCH O.O god there's a certain mini arc i'm not ready for cuz there's some really annoying characters idk if they were worse in the manga but they just sucked

That's why I got his Patreon. I've never bought someone's Paterson before but this guy is good. This dude speaks on things that are themes in CURRENT MANGA without even knowing it.
