So I’ve been bingeing this show over the past week and… I absolutely love it! I’m currently halfway through season 2 and I’m surprised at how fresh it still feels. Usually with shows like this it feels like they try too hard and the takeaways after each episode get repetitive. Because of this, I was so surprised that there was still so much to learn and it feels like I’ve only scratched the surface of what the messages in the show are. So thank you Goodwin and to everyone else who recommended this show! If it wasn’t for you guys I probably wouldn’t have watched this show for a long time.

this episode was actually the end of volume 1, so that's why it feels almost like a season finale. also, i could be wrong about this, but i think the series might not have continued after this, so this was a way to have a pseudo finale. again i might be thinking about a different series when i say this so take it with a grain of salt lol

So happy there’s a bunch of people on the patreon/youtube picking up the show because of your reactions. I had the luxury of already seeing the show and being a massive fan so it was pure bliss when it was chosen. Seems like everyone who’s new to it is loving it so far too!

this is kind of random but a funny thing that tends to happen when someone watches Fruits Basket for a long time is they get so used to the system that you can't hug or they turn into animals, that they start applying that to other shows. like after Fruits Basket if people hugged in another anime i watched it'd catch me off guard cuz i'd think they'd transform lol. this isn't just an experience with me either, it surprisingly happens to A LOT of fans lol

her relitives are such a**holes

Luckily this is the last you'll see of the family except gramps.

In the first episode, Grandpa didn't kick her out because he didn't care about her, it was because he was going to be staying with his family and knew that they were terrible people who would make Tohru miserable. Even he himself didn't like them, but he tolerated it for the sake of their family ties. He knew that Tohru would never speak up if she was bullied by them, so he tried to keep her away by asking if she had any other place to stay. When she told him she'd be able to deal with the housing situation on her own, he probably assumed she'd move in with a friend and be in a much happier environment. And indirectly, he ended up being right.

Holy shit fuck this family. I totally forgot about how awful they were to Tohru. I'm currently enraged at fictional characters right now.

This episode never fails to make me emotional. Actually that's the case for this show in general, but this episode just really gets me at the end.

Nick

being a fan of Futurama, I am long used to pseudo finales *cries*

Nick

Do Tohru's extended family even deserve to breathe?

Nick

I don't have a long contemplative comment today, come back Thursday they may be in stock

Nick

Update: Okay, yeah, getting massive Steven Universe vibes from Tohru which is a good thing. He's one of my favorite protagonists and it's really cool to see some similarities I also finished Mob Psycho 100, and my god was it amazing. I now fully agree with people that have recommended it for the channel

Athena

Not the grandpa hate lol another reaction channel I watch also had this idea that the grandpa was mean and didn't care about Tohru, but as we can see in this episode he really does care. He wants Tohru to be just as free as his son's wife because that's what she deserves!

As someone very much like Tohru, this episode never fails to orientate me back on pursuing ideals that I literally witness myself "activate" for like Kyo did when talking about his master. It's like the caretaker instinct almost always prevails when activated and the will to take action to pursue life scenarios I desire to experience gets siphoned dry to what function can I (gladly) help people for.

benj

He seems nice but him calling Tohru the name of her dead mom just never sits right with me.

Check it i had to go back to the original episode cuz i remember the one dude with glasses being far bigger of an asshole to Tohru Before Kyo and Yuki: "Tell us tohru, living in a house with three guys I'll bet u had all sorts of fun didn't you?" After Kyo and Yuki: "Oh i get it now, these must be the two guys the little tramp was shacking up with" YUP WAY MORE OF A DICK THAN \they didn't do anything indecent to u did they?\ also i love this remake cuz instead of them just showing up out of nowhere it literally shows their side as well and hearing everything cuz u can see their shadows at 9:44 behind the couch So. many. F E E L S!!

Also Gramps and that family is from her Paternal side.

I really love your monologue here about intelligence not being something that should be admired but rather just a tool to be used to fit into society and navigate the world. I feel like I need to start writing your quotes down so I can make a calendar where every day has a new passage of wise words/advice.

Nyashaxo

Honestly he's said so many quotable things. He should write a book. I would buy it !!
