Oh yeah, chow time

Francesca White

Uraraka be like "how did you know i was the female love interest in a shounen series?" also Uraraka in every battle" "what would deku do? i wish i was more like Deuki!"

Anonymous

Oh Minuto... It so weird having a character like him side by side with all the other characters in this show. I really hope he has a character arc somewhere in the story because really, as he is right now he really sucks

Francesca White

i totally agree that the pursuit of romance as a goal is completely valid, but i just hate Mineta so much lol, he doesn't see the women he pursues as people, he sees them as female objects that he wants to posses

agoodwintv

Yeah unfortunately he seems to be tied to the pervert trope... weird that that's a trope but here we are... so there are limited options for him out of that

Aura Y

I wanted to say that this was my least favorite episodes of the season, but that might be harsh. I just think there is an over-reliance on tropes in parts of these with the Ochaco romance aspect and Mineta's perversion. But there are still enough good in the episode such as Koda overcoming his anxieties and self-doubt; and even Mineta showing the kind of hero he can actually be when he's focused and driven. Just a rant: I think MHA is a great starter show for anyone trying to get into anime. I just think the fanservice moments are one of the few things I wish weren't present when recommending the show.

Ramon Cintron

I'm sorry but I cannot stand seeing the writers try soo hard to excuse Mineta as some misunderstood hero with good qualities. Hes just gross

What kind of situations did you put yourself in that forced you to be social? I'm pretty curious.

agoodwintv

That is the unfortunate part yeah. There is potential there in some of what's depicted in this episode, but it gets drowned out by the rest of it

Kollie123

People always bring up my hero fan service, but it feels pretty tame compared to a lot of other anime. It’s like, a tier above demon slayer and FMAB fanservice(basically nonexistent lol) but it’s far from a series like one piece or especially fairy tail, those series kinda get off on objectifying women every chance they can lol

agoodwintv

Korea was a key time for me in that regard. I did a bunch of things, I started going to mixer events and language exchanges and tried speed dating. More importantly though I just started going out a lot. I found certain areas I liked where it felt natural to hang out and be social and I did that A LOT, becoming a regular at certain bars etc. As time went on I started forming large groups to go out with and that was fun but I also made it a point to go out by myself as often as possible. I've spoken before about my final two weeks in Korea where I was in this weird euphoric/manic state and going out every night, and all those nights were me going out by myself. I socialized like it was my job and so just the raw data that gave me was indispensable for learning quickly. Also, the high volume of interactions made me internalize that no one interaction really matters all that much, which made it much easier to relax.

jassihere

Are you going to watch the movies as well? I can’t remember what order the movies go in with what season, just curious.

MikeWest

"I heard if Gunhead shoots you it's an automatic A for the year" One of the many rumors I would start at this school

Stephen

The next one in line is "Two Heroes", I mentioned it a while back and he said he'd do it

Revin MacGrath

I agree with your whole thing about adolescence and attraction. When I was in high school, and was not interested in you know, women, it made things a lot harder. I saw how easy it was for all my classmates to be in relationships, and how happy they were and had someone there for them. While it would be that much harder for me, I admit I was desperate to find a relationship. And it really really messed me up, and here I am almost 28 still never having been in a relationship. My self esteem is as low as it could possibly be, which of course makes dating even harder, and then I latch onto any affection I get which usually scares people off, understandably so. I'm just too damaged at this point to be a good partner, or to ever even be fixed so I've just given up on dating or even friends. Idk how to make paragraphs on the mobile site so sorry for a huge wall of text.

I feel like you're so mature despite being still pretty young. I'm 21 and just graduated from college but I feel like I'm watching wise advice from my dad lol. Continuing to love these reactions and the insight you provide :D

Sage

As someone who has never been sexually attracted(or barely attracted) to anyone and always considered romance more trouble than it's worth it's really hard for me to sympathize with Mineta's ambition. But putting that complex to mine at rest. I do realize he could be just pouting in a corner but instead he striving to be someone cool to accomplish his ambition.

agoodwintv

lol another mundane question for an exciting world: how high are their insurance premiums?

agoodwintv

No problem. At the risk of sounding like a love advice column I know for a fact that you could turn all that around.

agoodwintv

Yeah it's an odd calling to focus on but weirdly deeply personal to me. And as you said, whatever gets you out there and growing. Everyone has different challenges, even if there's a lot of overlap, and so part of my evaluation of it is to what extent do you take that on and do your best?

Kameron Y

I love the way you look for depth and lessons in every aspect of the shows you watch. And I love that you try so hard to do that with Mineta despite him being... the way he is 😂 Regarding his use of "romance" as motivator, I agree in concept that it's a powerful motivator, but I just have such a hard time seeing Mineta as anything but the archetypal anime "comedic" relief perv. It's an interesting idea, though, that love/sex can be a positive motivation, though it can often be a misguided one. The example that comes to mind for me is language learning. It's often been said that the best way to learn a language is to date someone who speaks that language.

Derrick C. Shields

Whenever I think of this episode, I just think about how Mineta beats singlehandedly, what it took everyone else the combined effort of partners to *maybe* accomplish. The only "help" he needs is Sero's tape, which was still his own plan. And he just happens to be Horikoshi's admitted self-insert. AND he just so happens to do so against one of only two female teachers. Weird, what a coincidence. Man, when Horikoshi slips on writing, it's a whole damn cliff, huh? Anyway, at least Jiro and Koda's test is entertaining. Makes me wonder if the teachers actually have their own ideas for how each student could theoretically win against their opponents. The way Nezu leaves an opening for Ashido and Kaminari makes me think this is the case. But at the same time, Present Mic being able to 1) cancel out Jiro's ability and 2) scare all the animals away, reducing Koda's effectiveness by a great deal seems rough. I get it's supposed to be hard (Plus Ultra, yada yada yada), but given their situation, using insects feels like the *only* viable solution. All the other animals ran away and Mic just has more experience over Jiro. So, did the teachers predict that strategy? If they did, I guess they just didn't tell Mic about it; but then couldn't Mic have just deduced that himself? I know this is kind of just how manga/anime battles go, but some of these fights really seem like puzzle boxes with one solution, rather than being about encouraging the students' creative thinking. That's why Yaoyorozu and Todoroki vs. Aizawa is maybe my favourite fight. It feels like it's just a very challenging match-up where both sides are constantly breaking down the other's strategy and thinking of their weaknesses. It's hard because Aizawa is so experienced, not because he knows how to beat them both easily, but also knows what their winning strategy should be and will just... let them execute it (a la Nezu and Present Mic).

Oron Bar

Aoyama and Uraraka vs 13 actually makes sense, light and gravity vs black hole

Kamolak

Mineta too op singlehadedly takes down the teacher! Seriously though I resonate with your thoughts on Mineta and how love can mess with your life. A lot of that in my life.

Anonymous

I never heard so much Mineta analysis in my life lmao. But it’s cool to hear your thoughts, since no one else talks about him.

TheTrashBandit

I don't know if you've noticed yet but Aoyama is pretty much always breaking the fourth wall by staring directly at the camera (especially in shots where he's just in the background). Keep an eye out for him, it can be quite amusing lol

Anna Lena Ciplajevs

To my shame I’m a present mic Stan. I can’t help it, I love my loud banana

Jabez Katsak

I recommend watching Vinland saga, it’ll be very interesting to hear your take on it

Brimmy

Hey look character development for mineta! \o/ I'm so excited for the next episode, its where i learned just how smart Bakugo is

Aray YIKAMACI

The youtube video got copyright claimed I think

Ramon Cintron

I still do not like Mineta at all and his goals are way too shallow for me to ever respect him being a hero. It always felt like Mineta's class spot was wasted on him when there's people out there with stronger convictions and that really want to put up the effort to get into the Hero class. Shinzo could have been in the hero class but instead the spot was wasted on Mineta cause the entrance practical was that unfair and backwards
