ATLA Reaction to my reaction to my reaction next? 😂

I like to think Sokka wanted to borrow momo to for some weird sex acts with suki... I also forget that hes 15 when I think this lol

I would like to reserve it for extra content, like OVAs, Attack on Titan in 9 Minutes, movies, that kind of thing.

Are you gonna do a korra rewatch

hays collins

Love the contrast of these two episodes. Haha

One thing that I find interesting is the fact that the reason why the Fire Nation stopped taking prisoners of water benders could be primarily because of Hama. Like the last time a waterbender from the Southern Tribe was taken hostage, she bloodbended the soldiers. So maybe that’s why her mom was murdered rather than taken prisoner

Also omg if you have any time, you should totally check out/ react to the ATLA Musical and some of the songs if you’re into it which was done on YouTube by Katherine Lynn Rose

What’s funny about the jet scene is that is probably exactly how the fire nation perceived that event. They would’ve had no idea that Katara was agaisnt jet doing that all they know is Katara was fighting with jet agaisnt the army in the beginning of the episode

I'm leaning towards no right now. ATLA took me a little while to get into at first, so it was good to do this rewatch but Korra I feel like I was in sync with from the start.

What a pair of drastically different, but equally as great episodes back-to-back! One of the major comparisons I notice is how Southern Raiders shows Aang at his most emotionally mature, while Ember Island Players reveals his insecurities and one of his lowest moments. But both handle their emotional beats so well. The final 3 minutes of Southern Raiders and the moment between Zuko and Toph were great! Also what a funny hilarious decision to have Sokka choose to bring Suki along but separate from Hakoda lol it's not a super big deal to me, but if you think about it long enough, it's a weird decision

Ugh I feel stupid. I finally realize what set Katara off to being so grumpy. It’s because she said “no the fire nations can’t separate our family again”. I guess getting her father back and him being ripped from her again just sets her off

I don’t think the drill thing meant any harm, they just breezed through a lot of episodes while trying to at least acknowledge most episodes in the show, if anything they probably didn’t have anything to poke fun of with the drill lol

Mako: I’ve just been feeling really confused… Korra: *kisses*

i always interpreted the audience yawning at the drill scene as them being uninterested in seeing a battle where azula and the fire nation lose. but if you're actually right about that being meta commentary on how people saw it as boring i'm kinda bummed bc i really enjoyed that arc lol

The "smoothing" comes from The Beach episode.

I've been wondering about how long your hair is now. And I think the Ember Island clip (and the extreme hair in Zuko actor) to comment that I would love to see how is your hair under the cap haha. Am I the only one who's wondering?

Meili

Lol for real. Dark, near-murder revenge episode to one of the funniest episodes in the series

Meili

I really wonder who told the fire nation about there being a waterbender.

agoodwintv

It is very very long. I have not had a professional hair cut in over a year. I am hoping to correct that soon

Best recap episode ever! (Although Korra's was pretty fun too) I love that they really put effort into realizing a stage play, the effects and set design are really cool. And for a recap, they are able to do so much, like you said! I'm just a little surprised they dared depict Azula and Ozai like that, but I guess Ember Island is far enough removed and unimportant enough to be safe from scrutiny? I do wonder about Katara though. Like, you could say this isn't the best moment to talk about it, but I've never really understood what she was confused about anyway? We've seen her slowly come around to the idea ever since The Fortuneteller, and especially in S3 and as recent as the invasion, she seemed receptive, so this came kinda out of nowhere for me? At the start of the season, I thought maybe Aang almost dying scared her, but it seems more like it just made her extra protective of him, so I don't think that's it? Or maybe she feels weird coz they butted heads in the episode before, but I thought that was resolved already? Idk, like Aang, I kinda thought they'd talk about it and that'd be it, but at the same time, it also made sense that they hadn't yet, with everything going on. And about Zuko and Katara in the Southern Raiders: I think it was a mix of feeling guilty and responsible for Fire Nation attrocities, wanting to prove himself, but also just him relating to her a lot regarding the loss of a mother. It's somewhat similar, their mothers protecting them, and I think he feels like he can't judge her because of his past behavior, but he's also not sure he wouldn't seek revenge in her place? I think it also has something to do with Azula renouncing him right before and him having to just watch her fall to her death (presumably), unable to do anything. I'm not sure, but it felt like he was glad she survived and then felt guilty about it, maybe? Like, I think he realized he'd have to fight them if he left, but it still shocked him that both Ozai and Azula came after him with the intention to kill, coz he doesn't feel the same? So maybe this whole thing was also an attempt at hardening himself, preparing himself for what he might have to do?
