Yo edit: believe me or not I commented this before I knew the QnA opened with "Yo!" That was kinda surreal for me to type Yo and then click play and here Yo back.

i had no idea you were living in colorado. how is it living there? i'm moving from new jersey to boulder for law school this august and don't really know what to expect besides nicer nature and views of course. i assume it can't be all that different from a normal suburb lol (i live 20 mins from philadelphia)

agoodwintv

The nature and views are some of the best aspects of living here :) I honestly can't say in any great detail what it's like beyond that, because for most of the time I've been here there's been nowhere to go and nothing to do except hiking, etc. (due to COVID). But I've heard great things about Boulder.

I have the same exact opinion on the whole "what if we're living in a simulation" theory. It's like, what help will it be to know the answer? lol It's not like we'd really be able to do anything with the information- but it can be a very fun thing to think and talk about haha

Still not that far in the video, but just finished the question directed to your 21 year old self and wow did it ever speak to me. I am 21 and just finished my college years with a 3-year Advanced Diploma of Game Development on my belt. My parents, mom especially, really want me to just get into the industry and start my career right away, but my mind is dead set on traveling abroad for a few years; likely starting with New Zealand. I totally understand what you mean by pursuing the things that excite me. Like right now I probably should be spending most of my free time I have right now digging in and improving my game dev portfolio to secure a job with, but instead I feel this absolute excitement and pull to learn how to dance or just read books about travel and life. It's unfortunate because its causing friction between me and my mom. She is dead set on me following the standard society formula that worked for her, but it seems so unappealing to me right now in this stage of my life. My dad at least is a bit more supportive of me running off to New Zealand, but I doubt he will like it if during those travels I learn that Game Dev is not for me and I decide to not go down that path I've been working towards these last 3 years at all. I don't know exactly what to do since I am living with them right now, but I know what I want and I don't think I will let anyone prevent me from getting it at this point, even if it means sacrificing some relationship things with my parents or friends.

I used to live in Colorado Springs! Nicest place I've ever lived tbh. Loved having a window that faced west. Woke up to the sight of Pikes Peak every morning and it was beautiful no matter the season. Which is nice because here in south Texas, there just aren't seasons. It's just the hot season or the hot and rainy season. Except when climate change sends us an unexpected death blizzard. Hope you're able to go out and see more of the beauty of the landscape soon! I fondly remember visiting Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Breckenridge, I could go on forever. So much to see! Edit: I wrote this comment before watching because I saw another comment before pressing play and now I realize it's partially irrelevant but the point is: COLORADO ROCKS (literally)

Ok if u got the potato u gotta get the bail of hay for DP (or a Zim plushie) and maybe a little panda thingy for FMAB because of yk the panda thingy lol also does this video mean Vimeo is working for u again?!?

I grew up in Denver! I only moved like 2 years ago to FL for college. I miss Colorado a bunch. Love it there. Can't wait to go back at some point, but I'm at a part of my life where I really don't know where I'm gonna end up long-term.

Aaron Ong

I had no idea you lived in Colorado! I live in Littleton, moved here about 2 years back, haven't regretted it. Do you go hiking often?

jdthebud

Lol, I watched the MHA video first, and did not notice Potato Sasha at all.

agoodwintv

So I had visited this area several times over the last 5 years or so, and every time I came I always did some kind of hiking or outdoor thing. But now that I've been here somewhat long term, I've barely done anything, maybe because it feels less like a trip and more like "life."

agoodwintv

I also am at that part of my life I guess haha. I wonder if that will ever go away

agoodwintv

Lol this is getting very elaborate. The hay fits though. FMAB would probably have to be milk. Vimeo... I don't know lol. They came after me for using a lot of bandwidth, and I asked for clarification on where the line is and they never answered. So I'm just gonna keep using it and we'll see what happens. Part of me suspects the whole thing was just one big shakedown.

agoodwintv

Yeah the views are awesome, basically everywhere. I've done a lot of sightseeing / adventuring during multiple trips here. I always enjoy my time here, though this time has a slightly different feeling since it's longer term and I'm more settled.

agoodwintv

This is a long shot and maybe too obvious to even pose as a question, but is there any way you could combine both? For example, could you apply to game development jobs abroad? Alternatively, could you find remote work in that field and travel simultaneously? Etc. I get their concern. They want you to be well taken care of. And obviously I understand your drive to adventure. Both are important. I'm sure you'll figure something out!

Brimmy

Me about to comment saying i'd watch the MHA video first, sees someone say there's a potato sasha, looks, there's a potato in the background yes i 20000000000000000000000% approve of these shenanigans XD

Thanks for the lengthy response! I selfishly wanted to tap into your wisdom as a 21 year old Marketing major who spends a lot of time researching crypto... Beyond all that fluff of what it means to become someone in life, you've been a great role model of someone virtuous who has separated themselves from the priorities of society. I've felt uncannily similar growth conflict that let appreciate your mindset, your relation to the universe, and your contentment. They've resonated so well with my life that I've literally had spiritual experiences while contemplating the FMAB all is one episode. All this to say in grateful for you. Stay safe in your upcoming travels!

P. S. If you haven't seen Gladiator, it's like the movie was made for your model of evaluating the good and bad data anchors in stories.

It'd be like watch Erwin handle conflict in a Roman setting

agoodwintv

Thank you, I am very happy to hear that. The All is One episode is so good, I still think about it all the time. Reflecting on that kind of thing seems to be one of the best routes to those kinds of spiritual experiences for me :)

„I‘m here and I‘m happy“.... well, that was a direct slap to my face. But that definitely helps. I am always so amazed at how you manage to give advice while not even trying to give advice. Like who needs therapy, when you’re subscribed to Goodwin :)

never thought I'd get a lesson on relationships and children but glad I did

Just realized later tonight I'll have 3 Goodwin videos stocked up to watch, nice
