YESSSS let me tell you this has been the highlight of my night for the past 3 months!

Brock Percle

I now await the next journey, I haven’t seen either show you’re going to be reacting to and can’t wait to react for the first time alongside you, been a hell of a ride through the atla universe, but onward to new beginnings!

hays collins

did you have any idea that korra and asami would end up a couple? And how do you feel about it?

hays collins

What did you think about the new spirit portal. I think its gonna cause alot of problems for the next avatar. Itll be just like Yangchen all of again. The avatar will have to make desicisions and choose humans or spirits. Which I find fascinating.

Ana Andrade

Let's talk about Korrasami. I personally love them as a couple. I love how both shows end with the avatar with their one true love. I also appreciate how this final moment made history by being the first LGBT relationship shown in programming aimed towards kids. I know that a lot of the complaints are based on the insistence that it came out of nowhere. I thought they built the relationship in such an interesting and unique way. It wasn't about being physically attracted to each other and there was no romantic tension. It was about developing a connection with someone on a deeper emotional level and realizing this other person makes you feel something nobody else does. It was about finding someone you can feel comfortable being open and vulnerable with (what happens with Korra) and seeing someone at their lowest point, becoming invested, not running away and wanting to help (what happens with Asami). I do find it interesting that based on what we've seen, Asami is the one that fell for Korra first. I do have one question: when did you suspect that something like this might happen? I feel like I've seen comments that pointed it out to you. For me, the first sign was in the season 3 finale, when Asami is helping Korra get ready for Jinora's ceremony. What really convinced me that this was possibly turning into a romantic relationship was the letter writing in Korra Alone. There's a reason Asami was the only one Korra wrote back to and Asami was the only one to ask Korra about her well-being. There's this article talking about why this relationship works. It was written back in 2015 a couple of months after the finale aired. I think it brings up a lot of good points, some of which I never thought of before. It's kind of lengthy, but I would love to hear your thoughts on it :) http://ravenya003.blogspot.com/2015/02/meta-why-korrasami-works-oh-who-am-i.html?m=1

Ramon Cintron

Thank you again for taking me through one of my favorite series of all time with an amazing new set of mind to take it all in. I hope we can continue on many more journeys

hays collins

Enjoy the rest of your life wishing for more. Ive already had to deal with that for 6 years no since korra ended. People say to move on...but I never will

agoodwintv

I think one thing that's implied that's still left to do (and maybe there's something on this in the comics) is that the spirits and humans still have to find a way to coexist.

hays collins

Sorry for all my comments haha. I love the music in this episode so much. First Makos sacerfice is sooo good. Reminds me a bit of last agni kai just because both moments were tense but the music wasnt. And then the last scenes music makes me tear up ever time. They use korras ending music with other tunes(no knowledge with music) but to me I enjoy it more than avatars love.

Alexander Howard

Thank you for this journey. If you can, would you be able to reacto to this video - WHAT YOUR FAVORITE AVATAR SHIP SAYS ABOUT YOU? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEjjZx1sYrM

hays collins

In the first korra comic you’ll see the start of that process that I don’t think will ever stop

Anonymous

I totally get that point about Bryan and Michael having the whole "we have to have someone to end up with someone". But you put it in a great way, there's real connection with the two. Im very excited to see you get into the comics, they are free of the shackles that Nickelodeon put on them, so they get to expand with Korra and Asamis' relationship however they choose. For the Korra comics, there's two main series, Turf Wars, and Ruins of the Empire in that order. But there ARE two mini comics one about how Korra met Naga (beautiful) and another about everyone's favorite demon child, Meelo. Hopefully you can check those out too. See you next time man!

Tenzin Dikyikhangsar

A lot of reactors constantly shit on Korra but your reactions were a korra hate free zone haha its been a tru joy watching you stan Korra from the beginning... I remember when it aired a lot of us were super bitter she wasn't like aang but now I see it really had to be done and every time I rewatch this show im blown away at how timeless it is- this is maybe my 5th time rewatching and I totally overlooked the fact that the only other being to make a spirit portal was vaatu! and that son of a bitch made 2! she made it look so easy :) thank you for your insightful and fun reactions :D

2021-07-15 03:48:06 Ah, the bitter-sweetness of a show you love ending. It's so sad yet so incredibly happy and beautiful. Despite all the show's flaws, it does such a good job tying you to the characters and making you care about them. I'm so glad I got to follow you on this journey. You had so many great insights and views, and I found myself super excited whenever you dropped a new reaction. You're such a solid guy, and you've been just as inspiring to me as we the community have been to you. I can't wait for whatever you do next, whether that's the comics, an ATLA rewatch, or whatever else. I'd be psyched to see a FMA:B reaction series, as it has a very similar magic system to avatar. Ever onward! can't wait! <3

Wow can I just start off with saying, I cannot believe this has come to an end. Ive been here since the good old ATLA days (albeit, as a silent observer) and Ive enjoyed seeing your channel gain the recognition it deserves. I did not expect to enjoy a reaction creator as much as I have with your channel. Supporting you on Patreon has got to be one of my best decisions of this year. I loved, loved all of your reactions and insights. Even on the roughest of days, I always look forward to your Korra reactions. Thank you, for bringing me so much joy for the entirety of this Avatar Universe reactions. So much of your advice has resonated with me and I know videos such as your commentary in the Metal Clan/Old Wounds Episodes and ATLA episodes, are ones I will return to. Overall, I just really wanted to say thank you! I will probably be leaving more comments, because there are so many more things I want to comment about, but I jut wanted to say this first!

agoodwintv

I've had a suspicion for a very long time, unfortunately. There have been a lot of not-so-subtle comments about it even going as far back as when I was watching The Last Airbender (I think someone listed it as a reason why I shouldn't watch Korra, of all things). But it didn't mean anything to me at that time, so I forgot about it, but I guess it was about when I started S4 that the comments pretty much confirmed it. I was hoping to address it earlier, but I didn't realize it would take until the final seconds of the last episode for it to come up in the show. I'll never know how much I would have picked up on had I not known, but I can say that I do not agree with the idea that it came out of nowhere. The writing definitely was signaling it heavily. I read the article and it makes a very compelling case. As I mentioned in the video, there's something about it that doesn't' click with me, but it's not about the believability of Korrasami. It's more just the overall romance in the show. Maybe I was just romance weary after the first few seasons? For me personally, romance is usually the least interesting aspect of a show or movie (as much as I talked about Zutara in ATLA it was all just for fun). As a pair, Korra and Asami work quite well. As the article and many others have pointed out, they obviously care about each other, respect each other, understand each other, challenge each other, etc. So it works for me, and I also thought the last scene was done quite well and ended the show on a great note.

Paul

This was great to get so much new insight into the show, thanks for that! And it’s been over 8 years since I have watched FMAB so it will be great catching up to it with you, I hope we will get a lot of insight into it because I tell you, that show has got very deep themes!

Spiral

What an amazing journey. Alta and Korra may be in the same universe but they are so uniquely different.

Jay Crigler

Bro I can't wait to see more of your reaction and breakdowns your definitely one of the best. The ending is so great I shed a tear every time that music hits from Mako shooting lightning and when Korra stops the energy blast

jassihere

This was so bittersweet! I’m so glad I got to join you on this journey. When I first watched this episode air when I was younger I was shocked but not really about Korra and Asami, but now I think it’s perfect and I’m honestly suprised I didn’t catch on sooner seeing as their connection kind of started in season 3. I’m glad that everyone is going on and living their best lives in the series. It seems like everything got kind of wrapped up as best as it could. And I’m excited for the next couple of shows that we’re going to be watching. :)

agoodwintv

No problem :) The finale had great music to cap off a great soundtrack throughout.

agoodwintv

I've wanted to watch this video for so long! I don't know how likely this is, but in my mind this would be a great video to do as a collab with someone else who is reacting to Avatar :)

trinity hauyne

https://youtu.be/MCUkvV_RQaE this is a great video talking about some of the stuff u mentioned about korrasami lots of insight into why the show ended up the way it did

hays collins

Oh my gosh I agree so whole heartedly on your thoughts about Korrasami. I wasnt a fan as first but grew to like them over time. and before this aired I didnt expect korrasami would happened and I DID NOT want korra to go back to Makko. I just wanted the show to end with the most important realtionship Korra and Tenzin. I didnt want Korra to be with anyone I just wanted her to have a long heart to heart with tenzin and thats how they eneded the show but at least I got some of that

agoodwintv

Awesome, I wasn't aware of the mini-comics! I'll try to get my hands on them.

Joqu

I’ve been very busy lately and it has been stressful, lots of pressure, but your korra reactions have been something I’ve always looked forward to. So thanks for that! It has been a wonderful journey, and I’m happy you appreciated the show as much as I have.

agoodwintv

I can't help but wonder if people shit on Korra partly because they're EXPECTED to. There's a strong incentive to try and make everyone happy doing these kinds of videos. Korra is definitely not without fault. No show is. But criticizing is easy. Finding value is where the magic happens and where we can actually get something beautiful Thankfully, Korra makes that easy since there's so much there. But it's only possible to get it if you're open to it, and that's why I'm so grateful for all the advice I got before watching to think of it as its own show. That was the perfect framework for me to go into it openly and see it for all that it was.

agoodwintv

Thank you! I'm glad that the videos were enjoyable :) See you soon for FMA:B!

Joqu

And the comics are still there too of course. I especially enjoyed the second series, but I think you’ll appreciate both of them.

agoodwintv

Thank you so much. I'm really glad to hear that. And thank you for the great article yesterday :)

Ramon Cintron

Ok second comment The creators actually were afraid to have Korra end up with Asami despite being somehting they had wanted to do for a while because all they could do was hint at it but then they thought it was a cliche and werent gonna do it but at the last moment they decided What the heck, yea its a cliche but why can't the hero get the girl at the end just because it's expected. I am personally on that camp my only wish was that it was more apparent they had feelings for eachother but it was Nick so that wasnt gonna happen

agoodwintv

Thank you Paul! I'm really looking forward to starting FMAB. I'm probably going to start watching tomorrow to try to get ahead (for once lol).

agoodwintv

Thanks Lana :) They are very different shows, and I can see how that might feel unsettling at first to some people. But ultimately I think that difference is a great thing. Korra does a beautiful job balancing its legacy with also paving it's own way.

Franchesca Giglio

Ahh I’m so sad this is over!!! I loved this series so much and I’m so glad you did too! I just found Korra’s struggle this season so emotional and her growth ... especially with the help of Toph was so great. I can’t wait for the comics and the next series reactions!

nat

I agree so much on the problem shows have with needing their characters to end up in a romantic relationship. I think what I love so much about Korrasami is that they feel like the most natural relationship in both ATLA and TLOK, since I think both shows struggle in the romance department. So many of the pairings felt so rushed to me, but seeing Korra and Asami go from rivals to friends to each other's safe place was such a satisfying and real story. Korra confiding solely in Asami while she was in the South Pole dealing with her PTSD because she was the person she trusted most, the two of them being able to be open and joke about their pasts with Mako, working as a team; they just have such an amazing bond platonically and romantically. The parallel of Asami being there for Korra in the s3 finale and Korra doing the exact same for her in the s4 finale is beautiful.

hays collins

Whelp another reaction series of Avatar/Korra finished. Good god Ive lost count how many Ive been apart of. I started with Blindwave, then the Normies, Chainsawreacts, a couple others and one that is just going into korra now. Like this is how i keep my love for these shows is seeing other people fall in love with the characters and plot and music and everything that is so amazing about Avatar. This is the closest I can get to wiping my mind and watching it for the first time all over again. Thanks for this Goodwin and I can say you are my favorite reactor of Korra. The insight you gave during this show made me like it even more. Thanks for the fun ride!!!

Aaron Ong

I'm so glad I finally found a reactor that truly appreciates some of the more intelligent and deep themes in both ATLA and TLOK. Your rants, opinions, and perspectives have shed so much light on aspects of the show I never picked up on. I love philosophy, and you definitely delve into the subject a lot. It has honestly helped me appreciate life more than I ever have before. The only downside to watching your reactions is realizing how dull other reactions to this show are... I'm also really glad you actually enjoyed Korra. I could really never understand why everyone calls it a bad show. Sure, it might not be as good as ATLA, but it most DEFINITELY comes close. I'm so excited for you to watch FMAB. It's honestly one of my favorite shows, just below ATLA and Korra. I think you'll REALLY enjoy its characters and atmosphere. Plus, the world and how it is built and displayed is just phenomenal. I can't wait for your reactions!

Calvin Brindley

Can’t believe they were watching FMAB without you there at the end. 😭

Dierane

This is probably a little to personal, but here we go anyways. Legend Of Korra came at such a dark time in my life. First time I watched it It was when I was really struggling with my sexuality and mental health, as I come from an severely religious family (Jehovas Witnesses). I saw so much of my self in Korra and seeing her fail, even while being an all Powerful super being, was something that greatly helped me. This is somethig that people clown Korra alot for and Im so glad that you didnt perceive it as her being too weak. I remember crying the first time watching the ending scene of this episode, because In a weird way it felt like the show was telling me that I can have that same happiness. That if I just manage to keep pushing through, I can find that peace Korra has obtained, while loving who I love. Korrasami and Korra gave me so much hope at a point when I was considering some worse ways out. Thats why it always kinda hurts when people say its complete garbage. Thank you for looking at it with an open mind and above anything, being respectful. It means more than you know. I'm sorry if this was a bit dramatic or too long, but yeah! Expect to see more of me, looking forward to watching Dragon Prince for the first time alongside you. And ofc the comics.

Doug Thomas

This has been such a great journey! Thanks so much for all the hard work you put into this series, and I can't wait to see you get through the comics and FMAB!

Dierane

Im just happy I recommended it at the right time! Felt like an alternate universe hearing my username said out loud, lol. Glad you were able to see the intentions of the writers and kind of get a inside view of how Korrasami came to be. I was worried that you would share the common opinion that Korrasami felt forced or was made as fanservice for the LGBTQ+ community. Im excited for the comics! :)

2021-07-15 03:48:01 I'm so glad you enjoyed the series and went through this ride with us. I definitely appreciate Korrasami more than I did when the show aired, since I admit I was one of the people that thought it came out of nowhere, but now I've learned a lot more both in knowing how people view things with these types of relationships and just actually seeing the buildup that was there, and just how well they actually suit eachother. Take all the scenes with Korra and Asami from Books 3 & 4 and make one of them male, and people would easily ship them and see the romance, but because it's 2 women, they only see the friendship aspects, and not that I'm judging people for it, it's just a thing, so much so that it's just a joke and meme at this point. I give Bryke props for managing to pull off what they could. Gotta love nick's logic there, can't show more obvious signs of a developing romance, but that murder suicide in book 1, the other multiple on screen deaths, etc are all ok for the kids. I'm totally with you on Mako. He was 100% the hero in this, the physical half at least. I genuinely do not understand all the hate he gets. He made mistakes in book 1 & 2, but he learned from them, and also he was a teenager. Teenagers make stupid romance mistakes. Other than that, he's honestly a good guy that cares about the people around him more than he does himself, and I feel that all too well. One thing I wish we got more focus on in the 3 year timeskip that not many people bring up is the fact that both Mako and Bolin had some things to deal with after the Red Lotus stuff as well. Mako literally killed someone, and Bolin survived a murder-suicide attempt by Ghazan(and then again later on by Varrick). I know we had to focus on Korra and she definitely had a lot to deal with, but they did too and I wish we could have seen that. Anyways, long comment is long, I'm looking forward to the next series, it's been years since I've seen FMAB and I've yet to get around to watching Dragon Prince even though people have been telling me to, so that's gonna be fun.

Looking forward to the dragon prince and FMAB. I haven't seen the latter, but I've been meaning too. I will watch with ya. The Dragon Prince is good, so I hope you enjoy that.

myownzinger

I've really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on ATLA and LOK this year. They're two of my favourite shows and it's been such a joy to see you enjoy them and question them and find the meaning in the little moments. I think there's something so special about being able to share stories with each other, and these are two that I've personally learned a lot from. I wish they didn't have their budget cut for this last season. They did an excellent job with what they had, but I've often wondered what we missed out on. I feel like we got some more character development and stuff in the comics, which is great, but it would have been nice to see it in the show too. I'm excited to see what you're up to next! I know you have two shows planned out, so it will probably be a while before you're looking for a new show to watch, but if no one else has mentioned it I highly recommend She-Ra. It's a beautifully animated show, and it was the first show that really filled the ATLA shaped hole in my heart. It made me laugh, cry, question my decisions, and got me shipping the weirdest ship I've ever shipped. I know it will be a while before you can probably even think about that, but I thought I'd plant the seed hahah

Galo

I want to thank you so much for your honest reactions, I can feel the love that you have for the show and for me it’s rare to see someone that truly cares like you do, my English is not perfect but I just wanted to show my appreciation for the amount of effort you put in your videos, I will stay haha it really doesn’t matter what show it’s the next because this reactions became my safe place. again thank you so much ❤️

Shawol930

Loved all your reactions in the ATLA universe! I was a little put off by your style of reaction at the very beginning, but now you have become one of my favorite reactors! Your insight and how you relate the messages from the shows to life and try to find deeper meaning is extremely refreshing. Thank you for your thoughtful reviews and reactions!!

WolfWarrior623

I'm right there with you, I have also mentioned She-Ra before. I never expected it to be my kind of show at all but damn I ended up enjoying the hell outta it and it's become one of my favorite shows I've watched this year with some of my favorite characters.

Ana Andrade

The comics go deeper into the relationship. And yeah, I was also aware about it before I watched the show back in August for the first time. I will say that what I found compelling about the article I linked wasn't the author going into specifics about how Korra and Asami developed feelings for each other. It was the stuff about why Mako and Korra didn't work. Him not being able to separate the girlfriend from the avatar etc and why Asami might be better suited. And they're right, I would love to see what kind of romantic relationship Mako might have now.

agoodwintv

Yes! One feeling I'm left with after finishing the show is how much they've grown and how they all seem to have reached a great version of themselves. They've all been through so much, but they're all living their lives in the best way as you said, and also you can feel they truly care for each other after everything they've been through :)

agoodwintv

Tenzin and Korra is one of my favorite dynamics in the show. Their coversation at the end was where it's at for me :D

agoodwintv

I'm very glad to hear that. Thanks for being along for the journey. Looking forward to the comics!

Feral Riot

I'm so sad this is over, this episode always make me cry when the new spirit portal is open!! Korra is such an amazing avatar and people just shit on her and her series because they worship Aang too much. I love both shows but I honestly feel is so unfair to compare them, both have an incredible narrative about the heroes journey and you can connect with them in different ways. I also got friends who told me to NOT watch Korra after I finished ATLA and I'm dead serious about ending my friendship with them 😂

Cody Taylor

Omg that last scene of you and all the fruits that almost made me tear up! It had no right being that damn wholesome

agoodwintv

I loved Korra's journey this season, and Toph made that extra special :D Zaheer was a nice touch too

malikparah

Wrote a massive comment and seems to have disappeared so here I go again haha. This finale (and this show) have stayed with and impacted me for a long time. Obviously Korrasami was a big talking point of the finale and as someone who in 2014 was a queer teen struggling with my sexuality and not thinking it would ever become canon being able to get even this much representation was unbelievable at a time when same sex marriage hadn't even been legalised. (one last screw you from nickelodeon who wouldn't let them kiss) Korrasami really paved the way for more overt LGBT+ rep in kids shows The reflection on Korra's growth really hit me hard. Thinking back to that impulsive, headstrong girl who declared that she was the avatar and everyone had to deal with it to the mature, compassionate and humbled woman in this finale is so heartwarming. I've always identified with a lot of Korra's personality traits and seeing her be able to acknowledge and reconcile her flaws after all she's been through is so inspiring and reassured that i'll emerge on the other side of whatever life puts me through. (random side note: we know korra's character gets a lot of hate and even the creators said in an interview that they were surprised that fans seemed less willing to accept korra making mistakes compared to aang) I've loved rewatching the avatar universe with you! You brought so much insight to the table as I've been able to consider certain plotlines and characters from different perspectives and you've definitely become one of my favourite reactors. Also i've always loved Mako and Bolin but you've made me realise just how much I was sleeping on how great characters they were. Looking forward to the last of the avatar content and can't wait for FMA:B to start! (If my previous comment hasn't actually disappeared and I just can't find it for some reason then ignore this)

agoodwintv

Thank you! I really appreciate that. I hope the next Korra reactor enjoys it half as much as I did :D

myownzinger

I totally agree! I didn't expect to love it so much at first, but every season was better than the last, and it kept surprising me. One of my favourites now

Cody Taylor

After repeat viewing here i was just reminded and Goodwin put into words everything I felt about this show and korra she is still my favorite avatar no doubt she is just more relatable and the lessons touched on in this show are so very applicable on an individual level i just love it

agoodwintv

Thank you Aaron :D That means a lot to me. I have been blown away time and time again by the richness of these two shows and all they have to offer. I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to watch them and express my feelings about the underlying themes and issues. I hope that future shows will be half as good and allow for this kind of format :) See you soon for FMAB

Emma Root

Great reaction as always! but I'm sad Korra is over. For some reason I think I enjoyed them more than your ATLA reactions, possibly because of your emphasis for looking for value, possible because of the fruit saga. My view on the romance largely comes from watching it as a 17-year-old knowing I liked girls, but still Korrasami seemed to come out of nowhere for me. I wasn't paying attention because I was so programmed to not think it was a possibility, despite being bisexual myself. Many people watching it for the first time today don't understand that context, how this was the first of its kind. So I'm a huge fan of their relationship, and although I totally get the perspective of not needing it to end with a romance, I'm so glad it did.

Feral Riot

I love Aang but yeah Korra feels more relatable because of the things she must deal with, and the writers made a great job portraying those issues without getting into a cliche of storytelling

D DuB

Awesome Journey. So sad that the Avatar series has come to an end. I pray for the day that we get surprised with another avatar series. Hyped for your rewatch though! 😭

agoodwintv

Wow, thank you for sharing! It makes me very happy to know that this show had that kind of effect for you. I think that is the mark of real art... That we can live it along with the characters and actually come away with meaningful, practical insight. That we can become inspired to live better or be better. I'm thankful that I was able to come into this show with an open mind. It's been a real privilege for me to be able to watch it and talk about it in this format.

Cody Taylor

I love it. Its so amazing when shows can always seem to find you in the right moment of your life. But i also think that its a great artist (group of artists in this case) that can capture that feeling everytime you view it. I watched this in high school and i always enjoyed it same for atla. But rewatching it with a bit more life experience all those beautiful messages just hit home even harder things i didn't quite comprehend then but still spoke to something in my heart. I remember as it was coming out people thought the end was a pandering. But with stories like yours i don't think it could of been more perfectly placed.

benj

I'm sad that the journey through the animated ATLA universe is over, but honestly, a rewatch of ATLA is basically another first reaction because of how in depth and well written the whole show is. The foreshadowing and development is only bettered by subsequent viewings of the show. So excited for the weekly rewatch vid and for TDP/FMA.

agoodwintv

One thing I've noticed about a lot about criticism of this show is a confusion between characters being flawed and characters being bad. As far as I'm concerned, characters being flawed is a GOOD thing, if it allows them to grow and there's a lesson to be learned. In Mako's case, I feel like he's a great example of someone who has come a long way (one of many in the show since it's practically everyone lol). I love the way he talks to Korra at the end, as a true and loyal friend. And that's an interesting point about Bolin and Mako having issues of their own to deal with. I would have been up for that in another universe with less financial restrictions :D

Cody Taylor

I too have fallen into the avatar reaction whole im just glad it started with someone as amazing as Goodwin. It really fills that hole where i just want to sit and watch it fresh with someone else and watch them fall in love. I don't think i have experience that with anything else before

agoodwintv

Thank you! I'm glad these videos were enjoyable. She-Ra is being recommended to me more and more these days! There is a high chance I will watch it at some point. Right now I'm limited to how much I can watch due to editing time, but I am starting to get help with it. My goal is to be able to sit down and watch shows and really focus on them. There will hopefully come a time when I can do shows a little faster, or multiple shows simultaneously.

agoodwintv

Thank you! I'm grateful to you for keeping an open mind and giving it a chance :D

Manuel Alves

Can somebody help identify the song that is very quietly playing at the very end when the fruits are watching a show together?

malikparah

It's Again by Yui which is the first opening for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

ComicalSkate

I just have to say thank you for the best reaction series to two of my most favourite shows! You're insight and beliefs align very much with my own and have helped me discover more about life and myself these past few months watching along. I will definitely be here for whatever is next. If I could have one wish it would be for you to someday react to my favourite anime of all time: Code Geass (the dubbed version because its fantastic). I think you would really enjoy it and be able to get quite a bit of value out of it, and the insight you could pull from it would be incredible to listen to. Either way I wish you the best of luck and thank you for many hours of entertainment and I will see you in the next one! Take care!

George Bondo

"Good" is subjective tho. ATLA and LoK are two fundamentally different shows, so trying to label one better is pointless. You can say which one you ENJOYED more, but to say better does a disservice to Korra, because in many ways, it's a much more complex academically in terms of character, with the deconstruction of the hero archetype being its driving force.

Dierane

Agreed, both ATLA & TLOK did so well in that aspects. They broke many barriers that existed in children's animation. Korra especially went a long way in destigmatizing mental health awareness and LGBTQ+ representation. I felt so bonded with the characters, and that just goes to show the amazing capabilities of Bryke.

Dierane

Definitely agree, Cody. I've watched Korra so many times since my first viewing, and each time I find more and more insight . For a long time it was my main coping mechanism and although that form of escapism can be troublesome, it really helped me get to where I am today. The major themes of the show are just so beautiful and keep me in awe. I too saw alot of negative input on Korrasami. But overall I know that its also helped many people come to terms with themselves or just to overcome their own seperate struggles. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! :)

Manuel Alves

Haha, I see. So it's a hint as to what Goodwin will be watching next

Chess Red Eagle

Another person's journey into the ATLA universe comes to an end. Always bittersweet. I've enjoyed every moment of it good sir.

Jackie

It’s bittersweet that this has ended already. I enjoyed your reactions a lot, especially on Korra. Thanks for putting videos out daily and I can’t wait for FMAB! One of my favorite anime.

agoodwintv

Korra is incredible. I love Aang, and I think the two of them in many ways, and in typical and great Avatar fashion, are two sides of a coin. One doesn't want to be the Avatar and the other only wants to be the Avatar, yet they both rise to their individual challenges and become more themselves in the process. Personally though, and maybe this is biased since I've watched Korra most recently, I identify more with Korra with where I am right now in my own life. I want to be the best person I can become, and there are tremendous challenges to that, and Korra has helped me reason through and find inspiration in a lot of what I'm going through.

agoodwintv

Haha I'm very happy to hear that. The Fruit Saga, while being a very strange thing, has been a great outlet for me :)

agoodwintv

This comment went through :D I identify a lot with Korra as well. Her journey is incredible, but also relatable in a way I never expected. Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad that I brought something good out for Mako and Bolin (especially Bolin 😂)

agoodwintv

That is true, I definitely am missing the historical element of it watching it all these years later. I'm glad to discover that it was able to do that for so many people and to pave the way for other shows in the future.

agoodwintv

I'm hoping for a third series as well! They better not give the creators any trouble this time around though lol

agoodwintv

Same! I'm so excited to start ATLA! I wanted to do it immediately after I first finished the show, but I'm glad I waited until after Korra.

Feral Riot

I always think how Aang said many times he wasn't ready to fight Ozai during the show, while Korra was the exact opposite, thinking from the very start she had everything under control to fight anyone who step in front of her. We can't compare both journeys the same way, just like life, every person has a different path and we shouldn't measure each other to see who's doing better.

agoodwintv

Thank you ComicalSkate! I'm very happy to hear that. I actually watched Code Geass a long time ago and loved it :D

ComicalSkate

Well I'm glad to see you are a fan! What is the plan for what's next? I think I heard mention of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood or The Dragon Prince next, both which are some of my favourite shows too so I am excited either way!

Nick

That tease at the end with the first opening to the show. I see what you did there, and I am infinitely excited for you to explore that series. I discovered your channel when you were watching The Midnight Gospel, and was not expecting such deep commentary from a reaction channel. I immediately subscribed and haven’t regretted it since. Thank you for discussing so many life lessons, and analyzing character and plot details so beautifully. Your channel is one of a kind

Alexander Ortega

I want to say thank you Goodwin. Thank you for watching this series when many people were so negative about it. I appreciated coming home from work and seeing your videos almost every night. I have learned so much from your reactions and I love how insightful you are. You really dive deep into things and I have enjoyed every moment of it. I also appreciate that you didn’t let the negative comments about this show keep you from watching. I for one never had a problem with this show. I loved it so much. I do see some of the valid criticism people have said about it but it does not make it a bad show one bit. It is phenomenal and it has been one of my favorite shows. One last thing, I am happy you were able to pick up on Korra and Asami starting to become a thing. Most other reactors don’t see it coming and are saying it comes out of nowhere when it really doesn’t at all. I was glad Korra ends up with Asami and them finally showing some LGBT representation in a show like this. Again thank you so much for your reactions and I’ll definitely be sticking around for more amazing content!

Rhodur

others have probably mentioned, but originally it was gonna be a kiss at the end and nick made them change it. though they did end up getting their way as youll see if you go into the korra comics after this.

QuillerKeen

It’s been amazing to see your content progress from the ATLA days to now. You’ve pretty quickly become one of my favorite content creators, especially when it comes to analysis of fiction. Also, you’re gonna love FMAB. There is so much value in it, and you can take away something new every time you watch it.

Dierane

I've been watching Korra reactions for so long now. If yall want some recs: Cruz Brothers, Reel James, Imon Snow, Storm Akima, Mikeville TV, Vizor TV, Watch Party, Letts React just finished ATLA and is moving on to Korra, and Sean Tank Top are really funny but are in S2 of ATLA. I have more that are still in ATLA too. However, none of them come close to the commentary of Goodwin

Henry Law

You made me feel like I rewatched this with fresh eyes and I felt the same way with ATLA, and that is a feeling I was yearning ever since I finished it for the first time. Thank you so much for taking us on your journey, you made me feel like I was watching my favourite show with a friend who was just as enthusiastic as I am. I can’t wait to watch more of your reactions for your other series too.

DrowsyCody

Makos sacrifice is always chilling love the music in that scene. Bolin shoulder tackle is reminiscent of what ghazan fakeout that he did to Bolin in the mountains in his final fight Korra energy bending what is essentially a nuke into a ball the size of a house making it so condensed it tore a whole between realities is the strongest feat I think we’ve ever seen in the avatar franchises even Kyoshis and kuruks island level feats don’t compare to Korras multidimensional feat here. It’s crazy to think that one vine 2 feet long can blast a whole in a mountain now multiply that by all the vines in multiple city blocks. That’s just insane! Korrasami yay even with all the censoring and diluting of buildup they had to do in glad to see they could finally take the first step of being together that’s the biggest seed to ever be planted and in the comics we get to see their relationship blossom into something beautiful.

DrowsyCody

Almost forgot The Korra cast did a live read of the turf war comic part one if that’s something your interested in it Part 1 of turf wars part 1: https://youtu.be/ylU-ksQP4FE Part 2 of turf wars part 1: https://youtu.be/WTyj0Nj9IfA

Neth110

Now we wait until the Netflix live action ATLA! Although since Bryan and Mike quit over Netflix not letting them have their way with the direction, it'll probably end up like the movie... LOL anyway, I'm for sure sticking around. Thank you so much for being such an amazing content creator. I was never really one to watch "reaction channels" but you proved that it can be so much more than sitting and watching something with a few chuckles here and there. You have an amazing way of analyzing what you're seeing, and you provided me with so much more value to these two shows that I've always loved, and given me things to think about that I never had. You deserve every bit of love that has come your way, for giving us motivation these past few months in a stressful and uncertain time. Thanks Goodwin :)

TJ Frangie

Lol, I love the FMAB opening at the end of the video. Can’t wait for the reaction to that series. Another series that is top notch. I think I like FMAB more than Korra from a more complete standpoint, but I love legend of Korra and ATLA so much. Korras journey really pays off in season 4. You really get to see her finally grow. Which is probably a big critique in the first 2 seasons. But I can’t help but be emotional in season 4 because it is very believable that Korra is in her head that much and how much she is truly suffering. But she finally finds meaning in her suffering. Loved the avatar series reactions. You are very thoughtful and I relate a lot in the way that you think. Which makes me enjoy your reactions and ideas/discussions a lot. Definitely one of the best reactions I’ve seen to either series.

Sklargen

I really enjoy watching your videos and I am so glad you watched Legend of Korra. I love ATLA but LOK i found more true to what life is with the ups but also the downs. Korra made me cry a lot and hurt and feel what the characters feel and thats why LOK is my favourite out of the two. I love ATLA to death and its really good but LOK is bae.

Jose

Yes! I definitely agree. I hope he hears it while he is following up in the comics. Plus, I love the extra dialogue that they sometimes add lol Especially when PJ Byrne is reading his part. Love his energy.

MrEvers

These final 2 episodes came at the darkest moment in my life. I had just lost my apartment, 1 week before christmas '14, and I had to go to the library to be able to see these episodes. This was such a light in the dark, it adds much to my appreciation for the finale, and book 4 as a whole, while I struggled to give meaning to my own suffering

Darby

The show definitely has its flaws and doesn't quite live up to ATLA in certain aspects but it is still a phenomenal show. It just suffered from short seasons, sub-par villains and too many characters to juggle but despite that it still turned out pretty damn good! Thank you for the thoughtful insight throughout and I look forward to the next watch! Let's be real though - Korra ending up wish Asami was out of nowhere.

Kris Ivory

Asami/Korra was the biggest thing I didn't like about this series- not because it happened, but because it felt like the creators threw it in there last minute to be like "Look, we support lgbt+ !" The part where Korra blushed when Asami complimented her haircut was the one thing that MIGHT have had romantic context. Beyond that, they didn't bother to develop them as having crushes, or hidden feelings, like they did with the Mako pairings, and Korra/Asami deserved a proper development with tension and obvious cues.

Kendorable

Hard disagree on that last part. I didn't care about shipping in the show up book 3 started hinting at Korrasami and I started to think, "oh, they actually have really good chemistry!", so I'll never understand why people claim it's out of nowhere when even I noticed.

Darby

Just because someone has good chemistry doesn't mean they need to end up together. Korra's closest friends were guys so it was only natural that she'd have a close girl friend in Asami. Writing letters and blushing doesn't equate to a relationship otherwise we'd be wondering why Toph and Zuko didn't end up together.

Kendorable

Wait, was that Cabbage Transmutation at the end?

DrowsyCody

Yeah I disagree wholeheartedly with you The writers had planned this from season two and began planting the seeds in season 3. People tend to view media through a heteronormative lense (that’s starting to go away but still) there were tons of moments From asami willingness to drop everything a o don her company and all to go with Korra to the South Pole To the subtle clues like after Korra was put in the wheelchair asami put Korra in the first this she ever saw Korra in which was the dress from season 1 episode 3. And asami gave Korra her golden hair pin that asami wore on all special occasions. To asami telling Korra if she needed to talk or anything to always come to her with the romantic sincerity inflection in her voice. Or to asami being the person Korra goes to to let off steam back when they had to deal with the earth queen. All the seeds were there and Mike and Bryan did everything they could to deal with Nick and it’s lgbt censorship of the 2014’s when gay marriage wasn’t even legal, members of the lgbt community were still being openly murdered for loving who they love and it only being the 12 year anniversary of the legalization of gay sex in the USA. Overall they took all those seeds they planted in the final two seasons and let the blossom in the comics

DrowsyCody

I say you go back and think about the time when this came out. They couldn’t have those big moments you wanted like ships like catradora, bubbline, or garnet. And this definitely wasn’t pandering given the time period. I think you should give it a rewatch without your heteronormative lenses and pay attention to the details

DrowsyCody

I also hard and disrespectfully disagree wholeheartedly with you The writers had planned this from season two and began planting the seeds in season 3. People tend to view media through a heteronormative lense (that’s starting to go away but still) there were tons of moments From asami willingness to drop everything even her company and all to go with Korra to the South Pole To the subtle clues like after Korra was put in the wheelchair asami put Korra in the first this she ever saw Korra in which was the dress from season 1 episode 3. Kris Ivory

You make a fair point. Keeping in mind that I'm grayromantic asexual, and that watching Korra here was my second watch through (during which I was actively looking for those clues to see if I had, in fact, missed them), I still believe that the writers made Asami/Korra interactions vague enough that those examples could have easily been mistaken for moments of close friendship (because friendships can also be platonically intimate). And I still felt that the relationship at the end felt last-minute and cobbled together rather than given the same overt development as Mako with both women. I will concede that I didn't consider the fact that TV/Nick's censorship could have/likely played a part in that, especially since nowadays it's much more openly accepted. I respectfully ask, however, that you not assume to know -why- I'm interpreting something differently than you, because I'm sure as heck not heteronormative, nor do I wear those lenses. Nonetheless I appreciate the feedback.

Darby

Every single one of the instances you listed sounds like something the only female friend in your life would do. I understand they wanted to make a splash showing a bisexual main character but it was executed very poorly. Asami was underused and was basically the gang's transportation for the series. Regardless of the 'ground breaking' nature of it - the way they went about it was extremely poor. The comics don't really hold any weight because I guarantee a majority of viewers haven't and will never read the comics.

Mina Fentany

Thank YOU, Alex! For giving me and others something to look forward to all these months and for making this year so much better, and for being the best ATLA/LOK reactor out there by far. I am looking forward to your reactions to the last bit of stuff you have left of this amazing universe and maybe I'll even give other shows you're gonna watch a chance, even though I'm a very picky media consumer!! Have a nice weekend :)!

Lil Lexz

Thanks for making me forget about my bullshit life for 20 min and make me smile m, thank u 🙏🏽 hope to see more of u please don’t stop

myownzinger

Of course, there's only so much that can be done at once. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one recommending She-Ra, but if you need more convincing I'm ready any time with a spoiler-free list of why it's worth watching :D

Life Mushroom

Thank you for all the videos, I thoroughly enjoyed watching your reactions to both Avatar shows!

Dierane

Youre entitled to your own opinion, but Korra and Asami's relationship is exactly how I began to develop feelings for the first girl I ever liked. Not every romance has to be a dramatic over the top one like Makorra was (in fact a large portion of them aren't) . Oftentimes, for me and other wlw, its a much more gradual experience. Sometimes were not entirely sure if our actions/sentiments are platonic or run deeper, due to the heteronormativity of society, and it can take quite a long time to truly discover what that person means to you exactly. Boy do I know that. Korrasami although it may not be the way you envision a relationship forming or how you expect romance to be, does accurately portray a friends-to-lovers that many people experience in the real world. If they had kissed, then I would have agreed that it came out of nowhere, but the ending scene is meant to show that they are beginning to realize their attraction and feelings for each other, not them jumping into a relationship. However, I agree that Asami was criminally underutilized

agoodwintv

Thank you! Midnight Gospel was in many ways the beginning. I'm really grateful that you've been here since then!

agoodwintv

Thank you, that means a lot to me. For sure there are many valid criticisms of the show, but for me they are minor complaints when looking at the show as a whole and all it accomplishes and all the things I've learned from it. :)

agoodwintv

Wow thank you Neth110. That makes me very happy to hear. For the live action, my thinking is "expect the worst, hope for the best." :) I have to watch it either way haha. But the good news is it seems like they are still dedicated to creating extra materials for the show, like new comics, etc. So that's something to look forward to at least.

2021-07-15 03:47:51 Honestly if i remember correctly they started hinting at korrasami in Season 3 but hell i hadn't even really watched Korra when this ending dropped and the collective internet lost their shit it wasn't till i had rewatched avatar and korra earlier this year (no i'm not kidding you are also the 5th person i've rewatched both these shows with) that I had finally watched all of Korra and saw this ending and was like...why were people freaking out?? that's so tame they didn't even kiss geez. But honestly you are probably the best reactor that i've seen out of the people i've watched since ur so smart and you go on rants and just lsfdgsdfjgbldsjfgb ITS SO GOOD Thank you for uploading your reactions Alex the last few months would of been far more boring without them <3 <3

For me, Korra and Asami were kind of the perfect representation for my situation (i realize its not the same for everyone). I like how it wasnt over the top as Makorra was, as not all relationships develop in that way. Contrary to the popular movie/TV cliches, sometimes its a gradual experience. For me at least, my first crush on a girl was built up on what could appear to be platonic moments, but meant a great deal to us. Altough I would have loved to see some more Korrasami moments, I appreciated the change in pace from the previous kind of in your face romances of the Avatar Universe. Sometimes its just sweet and simple in the real world, and thats how I saw Korrasami anyways. Just as a side note: Bryke received a ton of backlash (largely from homophobes), which for a long time seemed to outweight the positive feedback from the LGBTQ+ community. So I really dont think they did it as fanservice, but rather they saw this is a natural progression. If you want, check out Bryan Konietzko's response to the feedback on the ending finale. If you havent already seen it, it may give you more insight! :) https://bryankonietzko.tumblr.com/post/105916338157/korrasami-is-canon-you-can-celebrate-it-embrace

agoodwintv

Thank you! I think season 4 really brought the whole series together. I was already enjoying it, but the way this season framed the whole journey together and really gave Korra that personal touch... It was something special.

agoodwintv

Definitely. I think in many ways Korra is one of the most relatable characters to me. Her journey was inspiring, but in a way that was not your typical "saving the world" thing, but more deeply personal and relevant beyond just the path of a hero.

agoodwintv

Wow thank you for sharing. The way you described your story paints such an incredible picture. It's awesome that this show is able to pass along messages in that way. It is something I will be thinking about for quite some time.

agoodwintv

I think one of the difficulties with Korrasami is one of the difficulties with depicting romance in general. There's sort of this intangible quality to attraction that is difficult to convey in media. I think this might have something to do with the fact that as much as we'd like to attribute romantic love to observable qualities like mutual positive regard, deep love, etc, there are so many other elements to love that it's hard to pin down what it actually is. The signs of love between Korra and Asami were planted throughout the last two seasons, so for me it's believable. But even if the viewer understands that Korra and Asami care deeply about each other and see all the signs of their developing relationship, whether or not they feel the attraction between them at a personal level is another story. It's a subjective experience that is more difficult (IMHO) to convey in shows than other emotions like grief, regret, etc.

agoodwintv

Is that Transmutation in the FMAB sense? :) Cause if so, I'm not entirely sure haha

agoodwintv

Thank you Mina! I really appreciate it :) I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well

agoodwintv

We all need those moments :) I'm very happy it helped. Much more coming soon!

Dierane

Well at the time it was 2014, before gay marriage (in america) was illegal. At this point the supreme court was just beginning to talk about making same sex marriage legal and naturally there were alot of opposers, homophobes were VERY vocal about their input. The Legend Of Korra made history as the first childrens cartoon that depicted and confirmed the main characterto be canonically anything other than straight. People lost their minds because it came at a time when anti-lgbtq sentiments were pretty high. Also no one thought Nickolodeon would allow it. It was a huge win that helped pave the way to more LGBTQ+ representation in children's media (and media in general, as Nick was a big company with lots of influence)! Hope this helps :)

Dierane

Glad it helped! I'm so grateful at how far we've come in the span of a few years, to where this once ground breaking and monumental representation seems pretty tame or even lackluster now. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the progress society has made. :))

Duba Minus

Watch Hunter x hunter next! I'd love to watch that along with you

DrowsyCody

Same me and my first boyfriend built our relationship off the back of a platonic relationship I guess I just saw the same signs again you know just the little extra steps Korra and asami made in the final two deacons

Nathan

What are you watching next? Gotta be something else we deep, emotional meaning so we can get more rants lol. If it's animation, I'd love to see you react to Steven Universe. Bit of a slow start, but there's a lot to dissect. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea though.

Sklargen

Yes! I think the reason why I love this show so much is because it shows us we shouldn’t idolize our hero’s. We look up to people so much that we forget that they too are human. Aang was a great avatar but he wasn’t the best parent to all of his children. Korra thought she wanted to be the best avatar and kick ass but in the end she dealt with PTSD and anxiety. It shows that even though you think you know what you want and who you are.. you probably dont.

Dierane

He is planning on watching Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood and the Dragon Prince
