The way I’m about to watch this instead of the debate 😌

agoodwintv

I mean, with the way Toph drops wisdom this episode, it's probably for the best 😂

The fact the the earth empire soilders think that kidnapping children and bringing them to Kuvira is something that would make her happy is a sigin that she’s just not this morally gray hero I need t sympathize with

One of my favorite theories is that the Banyon Grove Tree and the Tree of Time’s roots are connected and when Tenzin says the physical world and spirit world are bound with its roots people think it’s the two in tandem with the same set of roots. Theres some cool art depicting them!

It is bittersweet every episode its like so amazing and everything they are touching on is so full of wisdom but in the back of your mind and when the episode ends you know the clock is ticking down 😭 i know korra has gotten alot of hate but i really think the more time passes and the more we watch it the more it shines and the more i appreciate it. Even season two which i felt was the weakest. I don't dislike it nearly as much as i did when it first came out. And beginnings is still one of my favorite lore dumps of all time. Rewatching both series along side you has been so wonderful and im so thankful to have found your channel.

Oh don't worry about it feeling a little premature, there's more to it still. Anywyas, I love how wise Toph is without having lost any of that edge she had during ATLA. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out she would be the one to help Korra the most mentally, and not Katara or Zuko as I predicted. I love their dynamic and I imagine their spinoff show would have had a lot of great moments. Both of them are so stubborn though so I would imagine a lot of hilarious arguments. By the way, I'm so excited to see your reaction to a certain interaction next episode...

agoodwintv

Thank you Cody :) I've said this many times, but again yesterday after I had watched a recent episode, I was ruminating on some of the events and dialogue in the show and I felt really grateful for having been recommended this show. And then I thought back to all those comments I got at the end of ATLA saying I shouldn't watch Korra and that it was terrible, etc. And even now when I'm browsing YouTube I get all these recommendations for videos with titles like "Why Korra is terrible" and so on and so forth. It's hard to understand.

I like the idea in this episode that holding onto unresolved trauma and negative events is manifested as literal poison that holds us back and wears us down little by little without us noticing. I'm a massive overthinker and have frequently spiralled into agonising over everything that goes wrong or that i screw up that i've ended up being stuck in place. It's only recently that i feel i've been able to look back on those events more clearly and figure out the lesson i need to learn from it and then move on and look forward

One of my favorite things about Avatar is how they write sibling relationships. They're so well done and I relate to most of them. Meelo and Ikki are basically my youngest brother and I.

agoodwintv

Toph was handled so well. The entire thing... The acting, style, how she managed to seem both enlightened yet still Toph. Really great

agoodwintv

I am a massive overthinker as well. It's gotten much better. But for the longest time I used to agonize over what seemed like the most minor things.

Rewatching Season 4 alongside watching these reactions has made me realize how much better it is than Season One imo, although both are great. The first half of this season is banger episode after banger episode. Miko, Ikki, Jinora trio is the best.

WolfWarrior623

Old Toph is probably my favorite of all the older Gaang. They handled her so well. One of my favorite things about this episode and honestly LoK in general is the music scores. Avatar had some amazing tracks, but I honestly think I love more of the tracks in LoK. I really like the music that played while Korra bent the metal out of her body. I also really like how they handled acknowledging the running theme with the villains and how it related to Korra's arc and growth as a character.

Trust me I’ve kept up my love(obsession) for this show for 6 years now so it’s never going away

agoodwintv

That last scene is so great, and I think the score really brings it all together.

"No but try this macaroon" I want whatever that guy is smoking please.

Gray eyes is a typical trait for Air Nomads; at least pre-genocide when they were a mostly homogenous group.

I really like this episode because it offers some much needed exposure of the grandkids, especially Ikki and Meelo. Now frankly, Meelo annoys the hell out of me. But they do a great job capturing his immature boyishness, so kudos to that (though the constant fart-bending is pretty unnecessary). I really like how much they showed Ikki's character. She strikes the balance between Meelo's chaotic immaturity and Jinora's orderly perfectionism. I also really like her scene with the two Earth Empire guys. Really humanizes a big threatening entity, bringing everyone down to earth. I also really like the Macaroon guy. Toph's enlightenment session with Korra is also really good. I've spoken a lot in the past about the philosophical stuff, but suffice it to say I really connect with what Toph said (and how you expanded on it). I continue to heavily identify with and appreciate Toph's personality, and how you can tell she cares, but she likes to hide it and be tough. Can't wait to hear your thoughts when you finish Rise of Kyoshi!

NitrousOxide19

He invented fart bending! Cmon now. That's another creative form of airbending that im sure Aang would be proud of.

William Abbott

It doesnt have to be over haha. I'd totally be down for a Avatar rewatch with full reactions sometime in the future. Theres a lot of things to catch in hindsight. I never realized that Ikki's eyes were grey either.

William Abbott

I thought so but wasnt entirely sure that's good news. Thank the lion turtles 🙏

Blackeyedlily

I appreciated how you commented on how Ikki doesn’t get enough chance to shine right before they gave it to her! You constantly demonstrate how in touch you are to the themes of this story.

I have fogotten how emotional this season of LOK is. Maybe it's because I'm relating to her journey more since I'm older now. But damn, the swamp episodes got me.

This was the perfect way to integrate Toph into the story and one of the best episodes in the series. Why is it that the best scenes in the show usually involve ATLA characters? Korra's interactions with Iroh (albeit nonsensical), Zuko and now Toph are highlights for me.

I love how well this episode addresses 1 of my favorite life lessons. My 1st is humility ( true humility not devaluing once self as is popularized), and 2nd willingness, which is the main topic. Willingness to feel or even embrace pain (not seeking it out) or fear. All emotions have a productive purpose use properly. For ever stumbling blocks can become a stepping stool only if willingness is applied. Creativity helps, wisdom speeds it, but only willingness approaches it.

I love Korra reuniting with the kids after three years so much!
