I'm still having some trouble uploading videos natively on the site, so here is a link to Korra episode 9.

that ending was more startling and dramatic than the Red Wedding

1) I feel like I don't deserve the heart you put into those skits. They are just so damn funny. 2) I really like how you framed the conflict between Raava and Vaatu. The idea that chaos was, in a way born into the world through humanity, and that the avatar is the balance to that is one that I have always sort of favored. If you think about it, Raava never really won the battle at harmonic convergence, Wan simply imprisoned Vaatu. There was never an age of peace and order, as evidenced by things like the hundred year war. Something I'm thinking about that this relates to is the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson (if anyone's read that). Very similar concepts. 3) Tenzin is one of my absolute favorite characters. He is so loyal and caring, and his struggles with needing to be in control of things and his self identity are things I heavily identify with. I love watching him throughout the show as I learn a lot from his journey.

Kingsley

Well. That certainly took a darker turn than I was prepared for at 2AM.

Emma Root

OMG that ending was hilarious!

Brimmy

lmao the skit at the end XD so good XD

I'm glad that you enjoy them :) I'm still reserving judgment on Raava and Vaatu but I'm going to try to get as much out of it as possible

Prior to Wan’s interference, the universe was in balance. Raava and Vaatu we’re keeping one another in check. I think part of Wan as well as the avatar siding with Raava is about penance. Prior to this event, both sides seemed to agree strongly to keep to each other’s affairs. Freeing Vaatu was a mistake that hurt both the human and physical world so one could say that the avatar being the bridge is a role to repay that mistake. Also, I think how you feel about Raava and Vaatu depends on how you view balance. If you’re looking at it from the chaos and order lens, you might see balance as keeping each side in check. However, if you’re looking at it from the good and evil lens, you might see a world of peace as balance, akin to how Vaatu has been trapped in tree for 10,000 years.

I was wondering what you were building up to with the fruit in the background. I was not disappointed. Truly an epic and dramatic finish.

Sam

I knew you placing the scissors in front of him a few episodes ago was foreshadowing. I was wondering why there was so much time left on the video and then I witnessed a cinematic masterpiece of the ages

Though I agree with most of what you said I don’t think raava and vatuu were born from the human consciousness in vatuus words “I was there 10,000 years before your kind crawled out of the mud.” I think they represent just the inherent nature of good and evil chaos and peace light and dark I think they are just a generalization of opposition and dichotomy. We also know they aren’t even the first spirits to do that throws a wrench into the whole thing as raava refers to the lion turtle as an ancient spirit meaning they were before even them... idk I think it’s all up to each person’s interpretation

Nico Salerno

Its interesting to me that Unalock has prob been mediating into the spirit world for many years and in his travels i think he met vaatu. And i bet it was Vaatus influence that led his to betray his brother become chief and learn all about harmonic convergence. I think unalock has prob been lied to in his service to Vaatu. I bet Unalock still believes what he is doing is right. I really do think he cares about the balance of material and spiritual worlds but he has been molded by Vaatu

James Berry

loved it =] and i say to the outro theres always katara and some spirit water =]

Cody Taylor

Wow that ending was wow more dramatic than i ever thought it would be amazing! Though it wasn't how i thought cabbagebro returned! So fantastic. And so was the rest of the episode!

The ending was the best thing I could have watched from this channel. I am so glad I became a Patreon 😂 Also, I love how you have been analyzing the second season. While it’s not my favorite you have really taught me new things to be put into perspective about why this season still remains important in the Avatar world. I love your content and the absolute passion you have for this now is amazing. I’m just happy to be here lol

The problem for me was (you'll see this in Hello Future Me videos too) that the concept of Raava and Vaatu, Order and Chaos, Good and Bad takes away from the mysterious and mystical nature of spirits in The Last Airbender. In ATLA they are ominous, almost like folklore, mythical creatures. Spirits of the ocean, moon, forest etc. Spirits were like gods in ATLA. In Korra however the behavior of spirits is influenced by whether Raava or Vaatu are free and in control. If it's Vaatu, spirits are corrupted and bad because Vaatu represents chaos and the reverse for Raava. There's nothing really mysterious about them, in my opinion. It also feels like with the color choices and voice choices they gave Raava and Vaatu a concept of gender? I don't know If that makes sense. I don't know if that was intentional or not. Even the concept of spirit Portals didn't exist in ATLA. Spirit world was like a whole different plane of existence in ATLA. In Korra its just another country lol. I'm rumbling 😂 I hope it makes sense.

DrowsyCody

Atla Spirits all seem older than Korra spirits the spirits in Korra are mostly smaller younger spirits like those of animals like the dragonfly bunny’s or the Arctic eels or bird like spirits they don’t really embody concepts like forest and rivers but the inhabitants of those things. Kinda like native lore where everything has a spirit from foxes to trees and rocks everything has a spirit and a name.

Jay Crigler

Idk which I'm more excited for the after math of that incredible battle or the reaction to korra episode 10

Nick Deano

I cant unthink about how awkward it would have been if somebody walked in on you LARPing with the produce. So much emotion,so much anger and tension. its hard to contain that kind of thing.

Well calling the lion turtles ancient doesn’t mean they are older necessarily....

Þórarinn Jónsson

Please don't copyright strike me when I do a reaction show on "the fruits". It's going to take a lot of hard work and soulsearching to get that right and would hate to have it go to waste.

agoodwintv

I would never :D When Fruit Saga is over I'm going to put it all in one video, so you can react to that more easily
