According to some sources, in the first version of the episode, Preston Northwest was supposed to be Stan's opponent rather than Bud Gleeful, and I would have liked that version of events better, to be honest. Might have given Dipper and Pacifica another chance to interact. They changed it because they needed at least one Gideon episode in the season and were running out of options.

Ok. So the next episode is good, but the one right after is consistently viewed as one of the least-liked episodes. Mostly because it seems out of place story-wise and probably should have come out earlier in the season. It's not a - terrible - episode on it's own, though. So maybe if you go in knowing that, it'll make it less not great.
