YOOOOOoooooo!!!! This release adds two animations, a pet minigame, a healthy smattering of art (including the first "X-TREME" art), and some juicy story-focused mynt scenes!!!


We've been sitting on this pet thingy for about two months or so, trying to find a way to build it, and while we don't feel like we had to cut other content or anything to fit it in, we definitely stressed ourselves harder than ever to make it work in time!!! And even still, it's not at its full potential. Most of the work done was on Fallow's end setting up some brand new architecture basically from scratch so that we could finish it in time without having to suffer horribly when we want to expand in the near future.


Deciding to put so much effort towards something that wasn't the "main" game was risky for sure. Here's the reasons why we did it:


1. Paraphore is played almost exactly like a choose-your-own-adventure book is read; for all its wacky varied characters, kinks, and settings, the gameplay mostly boils down to just reading and clicking to the next page.


The best way to fix this was to either make some pretty sweeping changes to the way the whole game is played, or introduce another element to the game that played differently. We chose the second one obviously! And we chose a style of game closer to idle games; stuff like Cookie Clicker you can leave running in the background (presumably while you read-and-click through Paraphore) and come back to every once in a while.


2. 75% of the time getting an item doesn't feel rewarding because items are only useful when they unlock a choice gate and let you read and click some more.


Although it's very small right now, our solution to this was the AUTO-SHOP. There are only a few in this release but we're planning on stocking the shop with lots of cosmetics for your pet which will actually show up in animated scenes and art, as well as furniture items which will affect your pet's stats. In order to buy stuff for your pet, though, you need to collect and sell "main game" items— thus, they serve a greater purpose besides unlocking read-and-click sections, and they're almost always useful, or at least worth a couple caps!


3. Having no home base or characters who will always be there for the player made my already chaotic writing really hard for some folks to slog through. It is tough to care what happens sometimes when the characters are always hopping location, disappearing, or acting just plain contrived. To be fair, too many characters are just a bundle of pheromones with a name and a species with no real impact on anything; I'm going to work to fix this in the coming releases.


So, clearly, our solution was first of all to give the player a place to call home, and second to give them literally the only virgin in the entirety of Paraphore's universe, someone hopefully serving as an anchor in a sea of flighty whimsical sluts—but more importantly, someone who reacts and changes depending on how you treat them.


This is done through stats: CHARISMA, SENSITIVITY, LUCK, PSYCHE, and TRUST. In the future most pet scenes will often have four variants depending on which of two stats is low or high. For example:


LOW CHARISMA, HIGH SENSITIVITY: Extremely subby.

HIGH CHARISMA, HIGH SENSITIVITY: Acts like they can take it rough but can't hold in even the littlest moan at a gentle petting.

LOW CHARISMA, LOW SENSITIVITY: Extremely casual; likes cooking or doing regular things whilst getting fucked. Alternatively, shyly asks for roughness.

HIGH CHARISMA, LOW SENSITIVITY: Actively self-degrading and eager for hard stuff.

- Game size reduced by 20% with magical un-noticeable image compression, down from 8 MB to 6 MB, Fallow ladies and gentlemen he's a fucking wizard
