I had ALOT to say on this one, one more thing to add is that don't forget you can also apply this to other parts of the body in terms of relativity. 

They could be completely random stuff for your self too as it starts to delve in sytlization more than anything. Such as "Oh the length of the foot is about half the length of the lower leg" etc etc

Also once you notice giant handed characters its hard to unsee them

That's not to say small handed characters dont exist but they're very niche and only exist in a specific case scenario where its either a super cute character for a specific cute moment or just children show characters in general
