Thanks!!! Would you rather I ask any questions in a DM on a different platform or here on the post? I know Patreon notifs can be weird from personal experience ^^

QTori

Here should be fine! The DMs on patreon are even jankier :P

So did you merge all of the render layers together in this file? I noticed that. No stuff like multiply layers for shading or anything?

FanterFane

I'll just go ahead and ask all the questions I have. I really love the eyelashes you did for this, any method to those? Like, when do you know when to make them directional like that?

And finally, I absolutely love the lighting in all of your pieces, I saw that you have a "light test" layer for this one. I'm guessing you do that for all of your pieces? Do you have any tips for lighting?

yeap thats pretty much the gist of it. When it comes to my rendering style I tend to merge alot of my rougher layers onto just one main layer that I can paint directly on. Im on the opposite end of the render spectrum when it comes to it, some people prefer having every line, mask, colour, shadow on each individual layer so they can go back and make adjustments. Im more geared towards just working on one, I use to do a lot of canvas painting when I was in college so this method is very close to what im comfortable with.

I plan on putting out a small tutorial on this soon! So keep your eyes out for that :P

Yeap, I usually have a quick test layer to see what works and then I settle on one. These days its the first one I test out. As for tips on lighting, always recognize from which direction its coming from and work around that. Its okay to be a little loose sometimes, artists can take creative liberties for putting light where it helps raise the image more. its also very handy to have an image library of lighting/painting/poses you like that you can refer back on if you need help
