I heard your feedback and reworked the chapter a bit. The guns still get knocked offline, but now they manage to do something before that happens. As a bonus, the chapter is now almost 700 words longer. Give it another read and let me know if you like the changes better than the original.

Isn't Alex technically able to shoot the orbital railgun by himself? It's been stated that he has a reactor under the hood, so the power is there, there is just a need for a aiming system (Given that the aiming systems are probably saved on dynamic memories, he should be able to interface his own body with a tablet with the program) and personally shoot down the ship.

The problem there I think is that the gun went into diagnostic mode, even if he connected himself to the system I dont know if he could override that process in action. Remember just because Alexander is a robot does not make him able to program or reprogram things on the fly.

I felt it was a better flow of events. The complete collapse of systems by the pirates with their garbage systems seems implausible. I did things though, that a possible nerf of the Pirates EMP could come from the blue dwarf having odd radiation emissions. Anyway, thanks for the rewrite. Appreciate that you were able to reconfigure based on feedback.

I am glad I was reading the chapter with the changes. The guns did not do much, but at least something. Would have been letdown to read how much effort he had put in for useless weapons. Under all until now if he would not had this weapons the pirates would not have had to target them and under all it did not matter if he had them or not. Still feels better to read that they did something.
