Woman: Swift Creek Photos

Chloe and her husband often wondered what was causing her strange transformations.  Sometimes, it seemed as if they were the result of a new translation of the hard to unroll and even harder to decipher copper scrolls.  At other times, there were days or even weeks between a translation and the cold wind.  It was a puzzle, to be sure, but one they decided they were unlikely to work out any time soon. Chloe, for her part, stuck around their remote hobby farm for fear of transforming someplace more public.

Chloe was out checking the fences.  Usually this was done on a monthly basis and on horseback.  This time Chloe decided to hike the short distance to the section being checked.  Halfway across the field, she felt the cold wind and knew that she’d soon be something different yet again.  She stopped, waiting for the magical effect to start.

It seemed that the transformation chose a different order each time for no fathomable reason.  Today was no exception.  The first change Chloe noticed was the growth of ears.  Her hand mirror quickly revealed she’d grown reindeer ears.  Having had movable ears before, swivelling these new appendages about was no novelty.  Not knowing what to expect, Chloe decided to undress to protect her clothing.

The development of bumps on her head that quickly grew into antlers, though, was something new.  She felt the new growths, still covered by their velvet, as they sprouted branch after branch.  Finally the growth stopped and her antlers became unbearably itchy.  Within minutes, she’d scraped the dying velvet from them to alleviate the itchiness.

The transformation paused a moment before covering her from just below her breasts to her toes with fur.  Deer fur, she noted.  She wondered what was going to happen next when a pain just above her hips told her that she was, yet again, growing another pair of legs.  The legs grew out while the spine between the new pair of legs and her hips grew new segments.  Feeling unsteady, Chloe lay down on the rough ground and watched the process.  Her new front legs soon reached full size and developed the cloven hooves of a deer.  For a few minutes, Chloe thought she was finished with cloven hooves at the front and fur-covered human legs behind.  It would be nearly impossible to get around in this form.  She needn’t have worried, though.  Soon the transformation started up again.  She grew a tail - a deer’s tail as expected.  Finally, her furry human legs finished the transformation by shifting and distorting until they, too, were deer legs - proper deer hind legs.

Chloe got up and tried a few steps on unsteady feet.  After a few minutes, the magic and her memory of being quadrupedal from other transformations produced steadiness.  She picked up her clothing, and packed it into her backpack along with the fence tools.  She may as well continue with her fence mending chore and hope that some sharpshooting neighbour didn’t kill her even though it wasn’t deer season.

Fortunately, her new walking speed quickly got the task done and she returned home.  The few animals they owned were not discommoded by being fed and watered by a deertaur.  It seemed as if they’d always been cared for by one.  Around noon, she returned to the house and fixed a vegetarian meal - she decided that meat might upset her new form too much.

Her husband returned a few hours before sunset and found her fur irresistible.  She discovered she didn’t mind his touch as he stroked her soft fur.  He looked her over and, once again, stated he still loved her in whatever form she was.  They made the best of it (even when she had to go outside to relieve herself) and both were relieved at sunset when the change slowly reversed itself.
