Reminder: Next Post Friday (Patreon)

Hi all!

I've gotten a number of confused questions on discord, so I'm going to say it again.

The next post is June 2nd. 

Last week had two posts to keep my commitment to have patrons get the book at the same time as Amazon, thanks to Amazon shenanigans. They 'robbed' this week's Monday and Wednesday chapter, so the next post is Friday.  

It's the same number of posts as usual, they're just appearing slightly off schedule. They were posted early.  


Switching tracks for a minute, I want to take a moment to thank the people who've left Amazon and Goodreads reviews.

Can't wait.. There are so many things to be hyped about: - Our new Nine-tailed Kitsune Apprentice Nina - who knows what weird shenanigans she might get up to before she is fully integrated.. - Getting to know and work with Rangers again, hopefully Livia will be fun! :3 - Autumn getting back and describing the weird object.. It is from Earth right? Was it given to the auction willingly, or is it an indication that some elves are extracting value from the reincarnation? - Artemis/Julius getting back and possibly getting on Dawn's team.. - Mr. Phoenix-Killer bombing their mountain hideout. - Vengeance from surviving Triad-members. - An eventual reunion with Sigrun, and possible interference in the Han civil war.. If we get to a war scenario I hope Dawn soon will starting to be feared by her enemies, not due to her but to the crazy bird with a flame for every problem.. X3

I can just see Auri getting chastised for being reckless on the battlefield and also killing too much, and her getting to the optimal solution: burn them just enough so that they won't die, but still gives Elaine great xp for healing them back up again... That would make her flames even stronger!

I imagined that with Julius being a Commander and all, having him back as the ninth and most senior cmdr might give a similar jump in authenticity to the Rangers as Elaine's return as a Sentinel.

This makes sense. It wouldn't make sense for them to value Elaine so much for historical and weight reasons and not Julius and artemis.

honestly, I'm not much of a fan of the whole bring earth into the story thing. I cant bring myself to care that there is another person from earth, and I don't care about the tablet. Iv read a few stories recently that do something similar, and its a turn off for me.

Honestly I can't see Auri doing anything which is deliberately cruel. She may not have Oath, but she IS linked to Elaine, and the Companion link also ensures their personalities are linked, to some degree. If nothing else, she knows it would bother Elaine. When was the last time we saw Auri being cruel?

I mean, I agree.. But also look at her actions against the rats, I don't think there is that much of a leap for something like that against human enemies.. I can also see her develop non-lethal flame, like something that burn opponents mana supply, that leaves them on zero mana and then burn off their mana regen~

Some sort of Pyronox thing, maybe, or a flame equivalent to a mana draining buff. But leaving a thousand people suffering from third degree burns is pushing the boundary between "do no harm" and self-defence a little TOO hard. Oath aside, I really can't see Elaine being on board with it; on Earth that sort of thing is regarded as a war crime, and doing it deliberately just for levels? Elaine is gutsy and pragmatic, but she's never cruel. It would take a MAJORLY nasty opponent to drive Elaine into that.

How about this: Auri eventually unlocks a unique type of fire class - Phoenix! It works like the general fire type, with a caveat that let's her use any type of specialized fire magic although with severe restrictions (like it being insanely more mana-costly). With description including something like: You are a Phoenix, an embodiment of fire itself. You are always searching for new ways of using fire. Take this class and let no flame ever deny you!

Elaine did toss fireballs at the ants from the wall perch. Killing in a war is ok.
