Patreon Sales Tax and Support Tiers (Patreon)

Hey guys, just giving you a heads up about what's going on behind the scenes. I've been notified that as of July 1st, Patreon is going to be required to start charging sales tax in certain countries. What form that actually takes depends very much on the rewards being offered, and on what country/state you live in, as the law varies dramatically by location. You may see an extra charge on your monthly pledge labeled VAT, or you may see no change. General support should not be taxable in the US and most countries, but Ebooks might count as digital goods, which could potentially be taxable, so I'm going to see what I can do about that. 

This coincides with a project I've been undertaking to overhaul and beautify the support tiers. I've been making artwork for each tier, as well as creating custom Discord roles for each of them. This new sales tax system requires that I list at least two rewards on each tier if I want to be able to customize the tax status manually, so although I'll be adding extra rewards, nothing is actually changing. I'm just doing that to ensure you pay the least amount of tax possible, for those who it might apply to.

So to reiterate, the support tiers will be getting:

-New artwork

-Expanded Discord roles (this is just for fun, it doesn't actually do anything)

-Rewards will be listed as part of Patreon's automated system (this is just to give me access to manual tax settings)

So, don't panic, nothing about the tiers and their rewards is actually changing, I'm just making everything look a little nicer and accounting for the new tax system.
