hello all! here are ten more colorful and exuberant houses in the desert to take you away from terrible current events for a few minutes longer.

Ogee Arch House

Note the extensive use of Ogee arches including as motifs on the outer wall. Also the central window formation is delightfully weird.

Peach House

a better look at the silkscreen technique. Obsessed with the camel scene.

Layer Cake House

A very ornate three-story house with cheeky pastel colors. Note the unusual cornice work and the elaborate window mullions.

Crenelated House

This house features more traditional regional architecture, including simple massing, decorative balconies and subtle crenelations.

Faux-Multifoil House

This very pink house features some pretty ornate architecture, including lace-line mullions, two turrets, embossed concrete, and freehand balustrades, but the most interesting of these is the use of concrete affixed afterward to try and imitate the crimped effect of a multi-foil arch, one of the most complex elements of Islamic architecture.

PoMo House

A more typically Western style house. Note the broken pediment cornice and the cherry chapstick pink reflective glass.

Barbie Dream House

Amazingly eclectic house with 4-part massing, fortress-like architecture coupled with big Ogee arch windows, and pink accents.

Modern Cube House

Interesting to note that even houses that are supposed to be stark and modern can't stop themselves from attaching layers of copious embellishment.

Quadruple Porthole House

Note the ornateness compared to its immediate neighbors. Very strange window formation above a more typical entryway.

office house / castle house

To show the diversity of some of these houses, the one on the left borrows elements from modern commercial architecture while making use of more vernacular color schemes, whereas the house on the right is the funnest little castle house one's ever seen.

I wonder if the center of the house is open all the way to the top of that interesting little tower they all seem to have in the middle (or on the side for that one).

These are completely delightful. I love when people have fun with architecture, which does not happen nearly as often as I'd like it to.
