Hello Friends! The good news about this county is that there is an abundance of beautiful houses amongst the wreckage of foam and dystopian rooflines. This home, built in 2002, is one of them.

What really impresses me about this home is the authenticity of the materials. Were it not for my "By Year" search filter, I would have been fooled at first glance into thinking this home was original.

Victorian/Queen Anne revival is a difficult style to get right, mostly for this reason alone: people insist on using trendy materials. No one believes a vinyl-siding Victorian is real - at best, they think it's a bad remodel.

The siting of the home on this hill plays to its advantage, as it emphasizes the vertical motion of the matching gables, while downplaying the (albeit tasteful) three-car-garage. Siting isn't everything, though - this house has lovely symmetry, great consistency both in its materials and its composition.

The ornate details, especially the braces and corbels beneath the eaves, are not to busy or gingerbread-y, and complement the strong structural elements, such as the porch pillars and dual brick chimneys.

All and all, this is one of the more tasteful Queen Anne revival houses I've seen, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

They needed a comfortable place for guests to fall back on when they faint from the beauty that surrounds them.

Oh my gosh, my hometown! My best friend's house in North Salem was a station in the Underground Railroad and had secret passageways from the house to the barn and inside the house itself. Love this neighborhood. David Letterman lives in North Salem now, but I moved away before he got there. <3

I like the house, but what's going on with that awful sectional in the living room? Staging? Or poor taste on the part of the owners?
