Hello Friends! I'd already chosen this 2015 house as the Good House of the Week when I was searching for McMansions in a different county. This is such a lovely example of doing historical styles right, that I had to use it even if it's not in the same county as this week's McMansion.

The style of this house is what is commonly called the Plantation style - featuring double colonnaded porches underneath a single hipped or gabled roof. A more appropriate term currently in use for contemporary houses built in this style is Southern Colonial. This particular example is interesting because it blends traditional architecture with modern stylings, such as the simplified railing on the second balcony and the muntin-less French doors on the second story. The muted colors and tin roof give this house a particularly fresh finish.

Just became a patron so I could see what's good in my home state; this house isn't far from the historic district where I live in Jackson. I love your commentary on nice houses, too!

They could hold a dance in that bathroom - but where is the toilet? probably in a tiny closet with a 24" door. You better hope you never break a leg.
