After seeing a home that had infinite shutter atrocities, it's nice to see a home that has perhaps two permissible errors (the furthest windows on the second story). This beautiful Dutch Colonial appears to have been built in the 1700s, alas it is not so! In fact, it was built in 2014! 

It just goes to show you that building in the high quality styles of the past is still possible. In places like Massachusetts, though, it may cost a pretty penny. Link to Listing.

I wonder if those furthest windows on the second story have accordion shutters? They look about half as wide as they should be so if they were hinged then they would accordion out and actually work.

Echoing Greg, yes my understanding of proper “shutter etiquette” is that shutters on double windows should have accordion shutters that cover the window or would cover them “if” they were accordion. I own a 1923 Colonial Revival with double windows and original wood shutters that are not “double shutters” but would cover the window “if” they were double (accordion) shutters.
