October 2020 Newsletter (Patreon)

Hi all, you might notice I've been changing some things around on my page. I'm trying to improve my tiers and goals, and I'm giving y'all a head's up on what's going to change.

First, I will be discontinuing the "read updates 2 days in advance" reward. In its place, I'll be posting updates on here a whole week in advance for all patrons! Also, all minicomics I make from now on will available to these patrons as each page is completed (everyone else will have to wait until the entire set is finished and published).

$5+ patrons will now also have access to high res comic and minicomic PDFs as they're completed. When I finish CH2, I'm also going to color CH1 and then package both chapters into one PDF! (The full color version of CH1 won't be available anywhere else.)

CHANGES TO GOALS

I've thought about my long-term goals for the series, and I've added them to my Patreon about page. But, I'd like to share them with you as well. Your monthly support will not only be helping me pay my bills and continue to create KAI, but you're also helping me:

• Produce comic pages quickly and with few hiatuses
• Release more spin-off minicomics
• Hire more sensitivity readers and translators to further ensure my writing is culturally sensitive and accurate, as well as non-triggering to readers who may be in ED recovery
• Publish physical volumes of the comic and create merchandise, all of which patrons will have exclusive first access to!

In addition to these goals, my community goal for when I reach 50 patrons is that I will produce this 10-page AU minicomic that I've been developing. You may recognize these kids!

A DAY IN MICKEYLAND: Alex and Kai reflect on if they’d be friends if they knew each other as kids, inciting an alternate universe scenario. The year is 1980, and the Kai's and Adriano's are both vacationing at a certain mouse-themed amusement park in California. The comic follows Alex, a lanky and awkward 11-year-old, as he desperately tries to get this quiet and oblivious kid’s attention. 

The campaign for this bonus comic will begin before the end of the year, in the meantime I'll be drafting the script, thumbnails and concept art in my spare time as I produce chapters two and three. I hope you're as excited about this comic as I am!
